Imrie saying in the sun he wants two more players this window.

Looks like we tried to get someone in this week but haven't been able to.

I like his confidence on not losing anyone. Even if someone comes in for Crawford, the gaffer is looked upon in high regard by his players.

Anyone of note sign for any league rivals recently? Might be a sign of who we tried to bring in.

Said it hasn't happened and trying to resolve it, so probably just more negotiating to be done.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

Be interesting to see who the last one or two players will be. Got to be probably 2 defenders I would think we are pretty strong everywhere else, not sure who is still a free agent who we could maybe look at. Maybe the boy lawson who used to be at Hamilton?

I know this a massive long shot but what about Charlie Mulgrew that would be a really coup as Dougie puts it but might out of our budget.

Charlie Mulgrew’s chucked it. You’d be looking at another Nacho Novo-type in him, who’s more interested in turning up at Celtic functions and appearing on TV or podcasts than actually doing his job.

There are reasons United canned him, and I very much doubt they’re all financial.

Hamilton tweeted the other day that international clearance had been received for Lawson to move to Tunisia or something so he's no longer available.

Even if he was still interested, we can't carry two older guys at the back in the squad that don't have any pace. Cracking player in his day and would probably have taken him over Broadfoot but not for me now.

My thoughts exactly.  Plus he would be wanting to take over left footed free kicks from Muirhead so for that reason alone I would pass on it

Imrie said he hopes to get the deal over the line by the end of the week.  Funds are available to possibly bring in further signings but nothing expected before the Rangers game

Also said there hasn’t been contact from any other clubs about Crawford and that he is basically laughing it off as paper talk until he recieves a phone call or a fax expressing an interest.

Is a 'fax' still a thing?

Today's performance reinforces the need for signing a natural right back to be a priority.

Would also like to see another option to Oakley and Muirhead in that central striker role but wishful thinking perhaps

There's a storm on the horizon

And for that I can't see the sun

For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement

For the ice cream van to come

A right back is absolutely necessary. Blues and O'Connor can fill in if required but it won't take long before teams start targeting an obvious weak spot. Blues' positioning and O'Connor's distribution really put us under pressure.

I'd like to see another quick forward to give us an option as well - Bearne looks like he has something about him but he's very raw.

Blues had a tough task today and had players doubling up on his side after the yellow card. He still did fine, especially whenever they tried to switch play. To get through that game on a booking for an hour is worthy of credit.

While I'd very much like a natural right back I'm not buying that we'll get found out at Championship level if we can't get one. Blues was our best player playing RB at Ross County in the group. O'Connor has also played well there. If it's a choice between a 'natural' right back like, say, Michael Doyle, or waiting to land a genuine prize like Sir Richard (or any similar quality elsewhere - like Grimshaw last season) later this year then we absolutely should not spend our resources on a second rate option to fill that position.

We need a quality and ideally versatile player to improve the squad more than a specialist in any position now.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are
