Greenock Morton are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Danny Rogers from Aberdeen on a season long loan deal.

The 25-year-old Irish internationalist will be available for selection ahead of the Betfred Cup game against Hibernian.

Rogers has had successful loan stints at Falkirk and Dumbarton and played on a regular basis for both clubs during his loan spells.

With 10 Republic of Ireland U21 caps to his name and a number of appearances in the Premiership for Aberdeen, Rogers comes with a wealth of experience to the Sinclair Street side.

Speaking exclusively to gmfc.net, David Hopkin showed his admiration for the goalkeeper as he told us: “We are delighted to get a player of Danny’s calibre in for the season.

“We have been working behind the scenes for many weeks to strengthen the squad and Danny has been one we have managed to get over the line with the help of Derek McInnes.

“It’s going to be great to see Sam and Danny challenging for the number one spot and it will bring us plenty of options in the goalkeeping position.”

Excellent signing IMO.

That 'competition' for the jersey will make Arbroath v Bon Accord look a knife-edge contest by comparison.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Well that will be end of Ramsbottom I would imagine.

Shame I really wanted him to be come good for us, but the signs are there that it just isn't to be, hopefully a stint in the reserves with some proper training means he can kick on and be a decent back up to Rodgers.

Sam in the tele saying he will fight for his position and that Saturday would be the biggest game and crowd he has ever played in and hes looking forward to it, shame as I doubt hes gonna start.

Im making perfect sense, your just not keeping up.

Yeah, I doubt Aberdeen would allow Rogers to come here and sit on the bench.

Delighted with that. He’ll have a busy debut on Saturday.

That gives me flashbacks of Kevin Cuthbert making 2,845,912 saves in the 4-3 game at Easter Road. He was quality that night.

You address me by my proper title, you little bollocks!

Boo hoo.

He’s not good enough.

As long as Hopkin doesn't do some moronic 'Ramsbottom's penalty saves got us into this round so he deserves to play' pish then Saturday just got a wee bit more appealing.

Indeed. If Rogers had signed on Thursday night or Friday and hadn't trained with the squad then there would maybe be a case to be made for keeping Ramsbottom in goal, but there's no reason for him to be playing on Saturday.
