League Cup 2024/25

Recommended Posts

Baird has missed two headers, been booked and could have been given a second yellow if the ref deemed his handball to be a foul.

It does run deeper than broadfoot but at the same time it would only be 1-0 if it wasn’t for him and the state of the game is completely different for the players.

Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!

Missed penalty from Gillespie. Every keeper in the country must know he hits the majority of his pens to the keepers left so it’s a pretty shocking penalty to hit it so tamely.

So have we signed a load of donkeys? Sounds like we are about Lowland league standard right now. We’re not going to win the league cup but it would be nice to at least look like a viable championship team.

Far too early to say. St mirren got pumped off a tiktoker last year and then lost to Montrose first game of league cup and went on to have one of their best seasons in modern times.

We look a shambles today but we aren’t a lost cause after one game.

Is that the first penalty Gillespie has missed for us?

There's a storm on the horizon

And for that I can't see the sun

For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement

For the ice cream van to come

Reynolds doesn't look interested. Maybe he's better out wide buy we need a forward. Davies isn't a winger either but based on today he wouldn't be much better through the middle.

He certainly looked more of a threat v QoS when he moved out wide.

I'd like to know what class As the spectators who attended/streamed pre-season friendlies were taking, while breathlessly reporting back our bright new future based on 'playing fitbaw the right way'.

The results were highly unconvincing and pointed to defeat today as a distinct possibility. A total scudding suggests that some folk are following the wrong fucking sport tbh.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

It actually was Davies who was poor for the third goal now that I’ve seen it again. Broadfoot didn’t cover himself in glory but Davies gave Trouten the space to shoot.

It's early days and never worth panicking over early League Cup results (even given how disappointing it is and how important cup runs can be to the club). I remember a very lame 2-0 defeat to Clyde a couple of years ago.

I would also say that I'm surprised at the balance of the team at the moment. You'd think that you'd want Gillespie to support Wilson in midfield (you'd also think we would've wanted to sign a replacement for Power in there). And the lack of a figurehead in attack is also evident. It's early days and tough to say at this point, but it does feel like the balance isn't quite there.
