Nah think he was taken off as a precaution as much as anything, he's sitting in the dugout looking fine at half-time.

It’s truly awful. And despite the playing football theory, we still seem to be playing a lot of long balls. Toothless up front.

Definitely need a Wilson or King on 2nd half to mix things up in midfield. Blues and Garrity have been really quiet.

Every caveat about early in the season, team needing time to gel etc still applies, but this is a team we need to gel in time to compete in the Championship in a fortnight and right now very few of them are showing any sign of being better than a Highland League team. A charitably delayed Davie Irons rule is very close to being invoked on at least four of these new signings.

Tbf it stopped as I pressed send and there's were about 3 horrible mistakes at the back within a minute and the rest of the half back to the way it was. 

There was a good spell of possession for about 5 mins right enough with a one and two touch passing but apart from that a tough watch. I'll admit that was in comparison to the last game and the start of this though

I'm cautious about reading too much into the style of play change idea at this stage. We're such a rabble it's hard to tell what the gameplan is supposed to be.

On tonight's performance I reckon we would do quite well in the Highland League.

Our decision making in final third and lack of clinical finishing has been embarrassing. Should have been out of sight in the end but the same issues in front of goal keep arising this summer.

The only positive is the second half at least looked like a higher division team vs a plucky lower league team but there’s still a lot of work to be done. The success of the number 9 we bring in could make or break our season.

Safe to say we'll need a goalscorer. Maybe Davies will come good with a bit of time but he doesn't look like a guy who scored 30 goals last year. 

Bearne did well when he came on and probably should have scored two.

Job done in the end but worried for the season after the last two games.

Hard to even really consider that job done. Terribly disjointed all over the park. 

Far too many times Brechin had plenty space in midfield having given the ball away cheaply. We can't afford to be so careless and ineffective out of possession or better attacking teams will crucify us, especially with that defence.

Davies and Reynolds miles off the pace there. Just don’t look anywhere near as sharp as anyone around them. Lyall poor as well but you can see his quality at times. Can’t say I’m looking forward to Saturday.

Agreed. St Johnstone will rip us apart if we play like that, we’re lucky Brechin were absolutely pish.
 

Reynolds and Davies yet to impress - if Davies had his wits about him he could’ve scored three there.

Have to say...Jordan Davies aint no George Oakley (or Robbie Muirhead for that matter).

Fact of the matter is..things didnt calm down till Broadfoot came on and I'm no Kirk Broadfoot fan I can assure you.

We need to be doing better than that. Our lack of a proper striker is worrying, but also Davies and Reynolds were poor. Broadfoot didn’t really do anything wrong when he came on.

We look disconnected a lot of the time but that might just be cos the team hasn’t gelled. However if that’s the finished item we’re in big trouble.

I know we can still win the group but realistically let’s use the last two group games to just get a functioning team sorted.

Incidentally...if Dougie is trying to get the squad to emulate Rhys McCabe's style :-

Job done but a tough watch. Ballantyne, Moffat and Lyall all ok. I actually thought Davies played well. Put himself about, got a few knock ons however he has to take a couple of those chances. 

Any idea why Baird came off?

That was absolutely pish. Its been the same the whole of pre-season and up to now in the league cup. The football is absolutely terrible, trying to play out from the back and we've got 1 out of 6 advanced players making any sort of movement to get on the ball and when he does he's got no option but to give him it back. If that's what we've got for this season we're fucked.

Moffat looks the only one capable of creating anything. Willing to give Davies a bit of time can see he is working hard, had a few much better passages of play tonight and was better through the middle albeit without causing much threat. Reynolds just doesn't have it for me, and I'd be interested to find out how much actual knowledge we had of him before signing. Garrity poor once again when given the opportunity to start. Same issue we have with bearne who looks only able to have an impact when the game has opened up in the last 5-10 minutes.

Looks as though he's injured.. they tried to play it down and cover it up, but looks as though some sort of shoulder or arm injury.

Fuck me that was hard work. Should have been a lot more comfortable than it was. Moffat, Ballantyne both looked decent, Broadfoot was okay but it was a Highland league team so I won't be getting my hopes up. 

Again it's far to early to read a lot into these games but Davies and Reynolds were really poor again the lack of a real striker will hurt us if we don't get someone in.

Not really comparable though. This is a complete style change, if we stick with it. Quite why folk think its just gonna click is beyond me.

He injured his shoulder or arm last season as well didn't he?
