  1. Nothing more than a matter of opinion. Possibly harsh wording in my original comment but he'll do a job in the Championship without setting the heather alight, which is fine and better than we currently have in French.
  2. Millen would be a very average signing. Bog standard Championship right back which is fine but I won't be reading into it too much as of yet. I'd like to see us go after Jamie Brandon if Livingston's financial problems free him up as mentioned before but he's done relatively well in the top flight this season so he may be out of reach. Reckon we'll see some movement over the next few weeks before the management head off on holiday again.
  3. Fully understand that and I trust the club will do everything in their power to keep them with what is available, but if we're going to be losing key players every year, especially to teams in the same division, then it becomes difficult to see how we achieve what is set out in the strategy. Replacing him with a striker who has 6 goals and a red card for scrapping his own teammate mid-game in that Arbroath team is a grim summers work, but this is just me being pessimistic about the worst case scenario from this point. Hopefully we've got enough behind us to hold onto the big man and there's a long summer to find a solution if not.
  4. It'll be an interesting summer, the club is in the best place it's been in a long time, turned a profit for the second year running and Dougie's been promised an increased budget. If the club are serious about this 3 year strategy to consolidate the club in Scotland's top 16, not losing our key players to other Championship clubs is a fundamental part of that. We really can't wobble at the first hurdle and give ourselves even more ground to make up on Partick etc over the summer.
  5. Jesus, George Oakley in a Partick shirt is the stuff of nightmares. Throw every penny we can afford at him, would be a huge miss.
  6. It's dull and unremarkable, we haven't really lost or gained anything. Basically back to exactly where we were last summer. We'll finish above where we had budgeted for and comfortably in the black come summer to do it all again next season, hopefully with some lessons learned particularly in the recruitment side of things. Trying to stay positive, I'd have bitten your hand off for this in November but it's just so frustrating and we are where we deserve to be. Improvements needed before August.
  7. Saturday just about sums up the season for me, the odd flashes of quality and signs of what could've been but ultimately just doing enough to not be worse than the bottom teams. I'd assume Dougie has probably already decided who's getting a new deal by now. As has been said, there are a lot of players who we should be thanking for getting the job done and moving them on. His post-match interview on Saturday about aiming higher than mid-table security suggests there will be a bit of a rebuild this summer which is definitely needed to avoid stagnating further.
  8. Yeah, hard to argue with any of that. If anything I'd probably have Mullen ahead of Wilson, his stats in the first half of the season were ridiculous, something not far off an 80% clean sheet rate before his injury. We'd likely be stinking out the gaff with Arbroath without him.
