dunning1874
I'm obviously not going to shed any tears over Broadfoot departing, there was a clear logic to the signing in the summer of 2023 in replacing Ambrose as third choice experienced centre back with someone who by all accounts could set a great example in training and help out the rest of the squad in a way Ambrose wouldn't, but after a good League Cup group stage it very quickly became apparent that regardless of what a great professional he is off the park, on it he was miles away from the standard of Championship football. Keeping him on for this season was baffling and whenever the time comes that we're looking back on Imrie's whole time in charge of Morton, Broadfoot will almost certainly get a place in the worst XI of his tenure. The imbalance of the squad is even worse now though. If there's been a financial consideration that elimination at the first stage of both the Scottish & League Cups and not looking like pushing for the top four means we need to reduce the budget without replacing players this window then fine and I have sympathy with that, but we're totally bare bones in defence now. If Corr isn't ready for the Airdrie game then Gillespie is our only defensive cover and that's with the hope that Wilson's injury is minor and he'll be back then, or we might need Gillespie in midfield as well, where he'd make a far more sensible sub in there to see a game out than McGinn. Meanwhile further up the park we basically have two options for every position with the aforementioned McGinn inexplicably still here - if the aim was simply to bring the budget down without needing replacements he was the obvious player to go, especially when we've given Crawford (who was excellent yesterday) a new contract. I think we need to be adding someone who can cover full back at least and preferably that player would be comfortable in midfield too, whether we can afford Grimshaw or have to settle for a cheaper option. Ferguson
A new face or 2 would be nice but I’m not holding out much hope for today, offloading the 3 bodies we’ve already released with O’Boy likely to go as well will free up funds that clearly need to be directed towards the stadium repairs initially. Next priority should be finding a way to get rid of McGinn (pound for pound one of the worst signings I’ve seen walk through the door at Cappielow, even “Si” Ferry said he was dogshit when he trained with us last week.) With there being no game next week I’d imagine we’ll use the extra time to get a better idea of how much money we’ll have available for players after repairs are paid for, especially seeing as “deadline day” means next to nothing to clubs below the top flight. I’d be OK with the window as a whole if we manage to bring in someone for defensive cover and leave it at that, given the circumstances.
RossMcC1874
Defensive cover has got to be the main priority and hopefully we can get someone in. No natural cover at left back and if Ballantyne gets injured then it's makeshift for RB as even though Blues has played there and did a decent job, he is arguably our most inform player you dont want to have to put him there unless needs must. Hopefully Corr can be involved in some way the next month or so but after a long time out it will take him a while to get back to speed.

Boyes and Ballantyne both have experience at left back so that’s not a major issue. The problem is replacing them if they need to shift across there. Corr coming back at cb provides cover for Boyes but right back is a major issue, as you say. Whoever goes in there to cover Ballantyne either has very little experience of the position (Gillespie) or seriously weakens us elsewhere (Blues, Wilson). Maybe Corr can play right back, I’m not sure, but we really need one other body who can cover at least one of the defensive positions.
Scott
A fit Grimshaw would be ideal to cover RB and CM should Wilson be injured or need to cover for a CB. I don’t think we should have much faith in Corr staying fit given his record so far.

If he is out of contract, why hasn't he been snapped up by a team who could afford him easier than us?

To me, it looks like he is/was happy with his payoff from United and have a bit of time out before getting back into something next season. But hopefully we've at least sounded him out. Stevie Aitken's Love Child
After we were linked to Scott Martin from Accies, he's signed for Partick Thistle. Club captain sold after apparently falling out with Rankin, and he's likely not going to be the last to go out the door.

Mr.Blue
Not surprised that we didn't bring anyone in before the window closes. I do believe that Dougie will have free agents lined up. Is the loan market still open? There's a storm on the horizon And for that I can't see the sun For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement For the ice cream van to come

Not that I'm especially expecting anything to happen, but the normal window continues to only really be relevant for us in terms of departures when any signings we do make are highly likely to be either clubless or on loan from a Scottish club. Madton
Looking at the contract situation this morning. Contracted for next season- Woods,Ballantyne, Corr, Delaney, Blues, Moffat, Davies, Garrity. Contract up- Mullen, Baird, Boyes, Wilson, Lyall, Shaw, Reynolds, Crawford, Gillespie. Loan ends- Stuparevic, McGinn. I'd let go Reynolds, Gillespie and Crawford from that and try and shift Davies too if possible. Reynolds and Davies are likeable and put a shift in but are just not good enough and Gillespie and Crawford are 34 in the Summer. If we could keep the rest, that would give us a good nucleus of 13 going into next season and save another rebuild. Would be happy to take Stuparevic too if Motherwell don't want him. Wilson a priority for me with Mullen not far behind.

RossMcC1874
Mullen and Wilson for me will be really difficult to keep hold of. Very consistent and so important to the way we play hopefully can keep them both. Lyall and Boyes have also got better as the season goes on particular Lyall the last few games he has been really promising.
Chicken_Soup
I’m really wary of us having another significant rebuild, starting the season poorly and hitting form around December. I’d keep the majority if possible, the squad are now showing what they’re capable of and continuity/familiarity is a positive. Would be pleased to hear about extensions for Mullen, Baird, Boyes, Wilson and Lyall. I’d hold off on the others for now though. Shaw needs a consistent run of fitness to prove himself and Reynolds has some work to do to show he can cut it at this level. Gillespie and Crawford might be too old for another year, so I’d leave those decisions until later, but I’ll trust Imrie’s decision if he thinks he can get another season out of them as reliable backups.
