TONofmemories
Dykes is a strange one. Seems to have fallen right out of favour. Watching him "warm up" at half time, i got the impression he thinks he's big time. TIME FOR CHANGE!
Alibi
I reckon our main problem this season has been the almost complete absence of any credible strikers, whether through injury or just poor signings (or poor legacy signings). We have a fairly high number of draws and a draw is barely better than a defeat in terms of points. The number of times we have dropped 2 points when a decent striker could have gained us two extra points is the difference between 5th and 4th. I would agree about McRorie and Rudden. Rudden has done well in an atrocious team. Far more useful to us than Dallas who has been a complete flop. "Any nation given the opportunity to regain its national sovereignty and which then rejects it is so far beneath contempt that it is hard to put words to it." Madton
I would like to keep the following (if possible): Goalkeepers: Gaston and McCrorie Defenders: Iredale, Buchanan (with the right partner), Strapp Midfielders: Millar, McAllister, Tidser, Lyon Forwards: Kiltie, Johnston (but only if we can get/keep him fit) The rest I'm afraid are either very inconsistent or tend to hide when needed most. Only way we should entertain Denny staying as if he proves his fitness and is willing to take a substantial pay cut and either gets paid on a PAYP basis or on a much shorter contract. If Denny gets fit, he could be a big player for us but after this season its a big risk and I don't think we should be taking it, especially when funds are at a premium. Shame for both sides it didn't work out.

vikingTON
Its amusing that players like kilday knock back morton who does he think he going to get a game with Kilday already received an offer from a Scottish Premiership club in the past - when he was actually playing worse than right now - and knocked it back. As opposed to the likes of 'Tam' 'King Snake' O'Ware, whose best offer in his entire career now has him three games away from being sent packing to the seaside leagues again. It's funny how that works out. In any case, a football club that tries and fails to keep hold of one of its longest-serving players and probably a modest earner as well - but has Dylan Dykes leaping at the chance to sign himself up to May 2020 - would be in a rather bleak position. The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

port-ton
Rudden can do one, wee prick. I'm a big fan of him at this level. I bear no ill will for choosing Falkirk over us as he was signing for the manager as Falkirk and Morton would have both meant nothing to him at that stage. The way he's acted towards our fans in games is totally merited in the context of the atmosphere of the games as well and i'd love to have someone like that in our squad doing it to other teams. I've got a lot of admiration for the way he was the only outfield player who seemed to care for Falkirk the other week despite not even being their player. Some fans would have their nose up at him joining but i'm willing to bet within 5 or 6 games they'd be singing his name. Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!
vikingTON
Really not sure how 'being a shite clogger who only didn't get red carded for persistent fouling because of his parent club' shows that you care in any meaningful way. It's hardly up there with Peaso nailing Andy Millen to the deck in terms of proper shithousery either. What you've got left then is just some hotshot from the zombie club who needs regularly put back in his box. I'd pass on that one thanks. Ton in Shawlands
Going forward it looks like we've a complete rebuild on a smaller budget ahead if us If so, so be it. We almost unanimously thought Duffy had run his course, rightly in my opinion. Pick ourselves up & carry on. Apart from anything else what are our other options? port-ton
Just had a thought, and it's more just sitting in my head rather than my opinion but I'll no doubt get my head chewed off for it anyway. Duffy had to go because he and his team had reached its natural ceiling point and it was time to go, however given we will be a team with a depleted budget, expected to field youngsters with no real ambition at club level to get promoted then it could be argued that Duffy would have been the ideal manager for that. * hides behind couch * Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things! TheGoon
The issue with that though is you know what Duffy’s celling is. The reason for gambling on someone in the JJ mould is they could be a Hopkin or a Ross capable of making those players perform several levels higher than they probably should be. Of course, it can all go wrong like it has this season but I’d still prefer we tried. Duffy coming back (or employing someone of a similar ilk) would be relatively pointless. EanieMeany
We really should be wary of putting too much in to the whole "we stayed up" thing. We shouldn't have been anywhere close to the bottom spots and we've only won three games this year, one of which against a rank-rotten Falkirk side that we've failed to beat on the last two occasions. We've been fuckin rotten because of Johansson, we shouldn't be doling out plaudits because we've beaten Falkirk and Dunfermline. It's not a "turn around". vikingTON
This is what was always going to happen once people started wetting their knickers en masse about 'certain relegation!!!1111!!!' when at no point in the campaign was that ever a realistic outcome. The benchmark having been duly lowered to a ridiculous level, TTGJ now gets to parade around the place celebrating his great escape and pinning this 'triumph' on the magical power of 'positive thinking' i.e. happy-clapping garbage. When the only thing we should be positive about during his reign is the fact that he's a fucking dud. Yet now his position looks bombproof until we're getting tanked by the likes of Forfar next season. Sad! DreamOakTree
lol wut The thread is entitled “which players would YOU lkeep†I’m afraid the YOU doesn’t refer just to the incredibly knowledgable VT, but also to all us other humble fans who are being encouraged to give our opinion. If you noticed I added the caveat “with the right partnerâ€.
