2024/25 Squad and Transfers

I suspect Lamie will have interest from clubs higher up than us, but that would be a proper statement of intent from the club if we were to bring him in.

Only a couple of defenders away from having a decent side going into the league cup and then I wouldn’t be too concerned if we played the waiting game for the final few signings.

I liked O’Connor but we already have Baird signed up and we couldn’t have both of them lumping the ball up the pitch this season so I’m happy enough to try and get someone in who’s more comfortable on the ball.

wish him all the best as he always gave everything and put his body on the line.

Not sure why there is chat of Rickie Lamie considering he signed a pre contract with Dundee in February after being on loan at them all season and played a fair amount. Why would he then make a u-turn not sign for Dundee and drop down a division and wages to sign for us not saying I wouldn't want him but it wouldn't make any sense.

Read the thread.

He wouldn't be 'making a u-turn to drop down and sign for us'. All the evidence points to the pre-contract already having been filed in the bin.

I did read it thanks.

There has been nothing official to say he is a free agent a deal was agreed in February with Dundee and there has been nothing from them to say it's not happening until there is you are going on hear say and rumors and by what you think might be happening.

There has also been nothing official to say he has actually signed, which still had to happen seeing as the pre-contract in February is nothing more than a handshake and a promise, despite the window opening and Dundee being back in training.

In fact, the last time they uttered his name was announcing he had gone back to Motherwell after his loan.

He has also been purged from their website.

Initially Darragh was one that I hoped would sign on again but I think the reality is Dougie has had him behind Broadfoot in the pecking order so it’s probably the best move for all concerned that he’s away. We should be looking to strengthen at the back and have someone that’s easily ahead of Broadfoot and Darragh should be looking to play every week and further his own career.

Scott burns reporting were set to sign Dylan corr, 19 year old centre half. Knocked back a new deal at raith, looked decent against us the second last game of the last season.

Dylan Corr incoming.

Would be delighted with that

There's a storm on the horizon

And for that I can't see the sun

For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement

For the ice cream van to come

That’s a very good signing, especially if it’s a 2+ year deal. Very happy with that. Baird and Corr is a great pairing to start with and plenty of potential to improve for the young man.

Most certainly a different model to last season. We may have to be a little patient until the squad settles down but really looking forward to watching how things develop.

I’m generally quite comfortable that when a story comes from Scott Burns it’s a done deal, but with big-spending Raith Rovers having offered him a new deal, and given how they like to throw money around he wouldn’t have been offered less than he was already on, it’s surprising that we could be signing a boy of his age when there could be a potential fee involved.

Allegedly he knocked a deal back at raith as he was told he'd be 4th choice. Perhaps he's been given assurances about more game time?

It's possible we're offering him more first team opportunities, and while the compensation won't be nothing, it would presumably be similar to a signing-on fee for a more senior player.

If we sign him up that's a quality signing. Young talented centre half who is decent on the ball with plenty of room to grow and with the likes Broadfoot in the squad will learn a lot, really happy with the sort of players we are linked to and the signings so far Imrie really is on the ball as usual.

You'd think that if big-spending Raith were offering him substantially more than us, albeit with fewer starting opportunities, that he would be very tempted to take it, given that he's still very young. I'd be surprised therefore if we've offered him a lot less than big-spending Raith have. Which if true, and also taking our other recent signings into account, perhaps suggests that our budget isn't quite as meagre as some have suggested. Pretty sure it's not the lowest in the league, as many claim.

All the above above is of course on the assumption the boy actually signs for us. Fingers crossed, will be an excellent bit if business of he does, and will save the knicker-wetters a fortune in laundry bills.
