Not 100% here but would we have to pay a compensation fee as he came through Celtic youth so “training costs” would’ve been payable there if they offered him a contract, rejected it and went to Raith?

Within Scotland it works like this:

Development fees cover every year until a player is 21.

It is important to remember that rules within a country are very different from the FIFA (and EU) ones that are brought to bear when a player moves between countries.

If you're talking about the Development Contribution Period, then in Scotland it's is from 11 to 19, not to 21, but it's applicable up to the age of 23 (that is, if a player has developed at a club from 11 to 19, but rejects a contract at 22 and moves on, the full eight covered years of his development will be taken into account.)

Most importantly it is applicable only to the club with which he was last registered, not the one before it, so any money due to Celtic has already been paid by Raith (if Celtic even bothered offering him a deal or appealing it.) We would be on the hook for money to Raith in this instance, assuming they offered him a contract, and it's not likely to be that much.

Entirely separate from the Development fees is Compensation, which also applies to the age of 23. Hypothetically a player could join a club at 21 on a one-year deal, reject a new one at 22, and then his signing club would be on the hook for a Compensation payment even though no Development Contribution is required. Usually this is hashed out between the clubs but if it's not a tribunal will decide according to a list of criteria that can be found in the SPFL Rules.

Overall, unless Raith didn't offer him a deal similar to the one he was on, we're going to be on the hook to pay, but it's in everyone's interests to get it figured out and I imagine it'll be in the low five figures.

Is Lamie a free agent now? Dundee announced in February he’d signed a pre-contract for a permanent deal to start when his Motherwell deal expires in the summer. Then in May their squad update listed him among the players returning to their parent clubs.

Some comments from Dundee Re: Lamie. Looks like they did follow through with the pre-contract but are now in discussions over his release.

Strange situation that. I assume he'll have better offers than us but hopefully we sre interested and Dougie works his magic.

Lamie linked with St Johnstone currently, Tory farmers are up in arms about it.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Class signing still young good potential and someone who we might be able to actually get a fee for.

For me Imrie has got it bang on with the signings of course we need to see how they actually do in the league but I am really positive about them doing the business.

Keep them coming.

Happy with Corr and think a young player with potential as a replacement for O'Connor does make sense, but I would be wary of him being a first choice. Not knocking him and he clearly has a lot of potential, but he's a 19 year old who only played 14 games in all competitions last season.

It'd be a huge leap to go straight in as a guaranteed starter and we know the next player in the centre back pecking order is nowhere near good enough for the division, so if he has a wobble in form at some point which wouldn't be unexpected for a teenager still learning to play at this level, we don't have an adequate replacement to take him out the firing line if we go with the three centre backs we have currently.

We obviously still need two more defenders in anyway, so if we could get a Ricki Lamie level coup as a starting centre back who can also provide full back cover with Corr being third choice as well as the first choice left back, that'd be some solid depth.

I could be wrong but I imagine corr will be coming here to play.  It's been mentioned that he left raith due to a lack of game time.

Would like to see a couple more experienced players added to balance the youth, but those have tended to take longer to become available/get over the line in recent seasons. It's been a very encouraging reboot job so far though.
