We have a rumour!

Cammy Ballantyne has turned down a deal at Airdrie.

An Airdrie fan who appears to know something about it suggesting he's coming our way over on

I know it's still quite early in the window. But i'm a bit concerned Dougie is making the same mistakes as last season again and being top heavy with wingers. We really need to sign defenders. Especially a starting centre half and a left back.

DU fan on pandb saying he's heard we are linked with Grimshaw on loan.

Would be class to see him back and would mean Ballantyne moving over to the left I'm guessing unless he can play as a CB?

That would be a ridiculously good signing.

Can't understand why United would want to let Grimmy go out on loan. He was an ever present for them last season. Would take him back in a heartbeat though.

I’d love him back but would’ve thought he’d have better options than us. He was a level above last time he was here.

On the other hand,  he knows what he's getting here, worked with Imrie,  liked by the fans and won the POY, hopefully that might sway him a bit.

* Morton fan. @standman

Maybe Dougie will have a wee word with Grimshaw up in Brechin today.

I don’t think Grimshaw signing is totally out of the question tbh. I remember after winning the league in 2015, a few folk questioned the wisdom of signing Peaso on an 18 month deal and SpoonTon (I think) made the point that while he was only really signed to do a job in League One, giving him an extended deal was the only way we’d attract him and the extra year’s wages was a hit worth taking.

Never saw Grimshaw as a long-term signing for them either, but with if they’ve taken a similar approach, we could be the beneficiaries.

Ever present but doesn't mean his positions aren't in line for upgrade after promotion.

Dundee Utd fans didn't take to him too well and he was a bit of a scapegoat at times.

They have just pinched Ryan Strain from St Mirren for the right back slot.

Dundee United had the shit ton of wages to use as an enticement, and Peaso was at the end of his career where every guaranteed year actually counts*. I'm not buying that long-term trade-off.

I wouldn't be surprised if the wider turnover at Dundee United led to Grimshaw's departure on loan - I would still be very surprised (and delighted) if he ended up at Cappielow though.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

That's a Morton fan rather than a Dundee United fan saying that, so hopefully not just someone putting two and two together after they've signed an obvious first choice right back.

Appeared in most, but didn't start much in the second half of the season - only 4 starts in their final 13 league games. They have released the regen right back they were starting ahead of him while you'd think his versatility and prior Premiership experience would make him an obvious player to keep so I'm not going to get my hopes up, but common sense and Dundee United haven't gone together often in the last decade.

Whether we had Grimshaw at right back with Ballantyne going across to left back or put him in midfield beside Wilson, it would be an incredible signing.

Grimmy wasn't in the squad that played Brechin today and according to a Dundee Utd fan on P&B Dougie was seen on his phone straight after talking to Goodwin.

The wallet inspector must enjoy your regular custom if you believe that pish.

He started the 2nd half after wholesale changes.

Yes but that was only after Dougie phoned Goodwin to get Grimshaw on according to a Dundee Utd fan on an Onlyfans site.
