Hasn’t taken the feel good factor away for me, though. Still can’t quite believe the position the team and Dougie have got us in to given where we were not so long ago. They tried again, after the greenlight had "expired" and got a "double use" error message and had to go off in search of a steward. Regarding the game, it was frustrating not to get the win but I'll take continuing the unbeaten run. McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie. Second half we fell of the pace a wee bit I thought, however did not look in any danger of conceding. How bannigan never got a second yellow is beyond me. Thought we were by far the better team and their fans started singing when they realized they got something out of that game they didn't deserve. SFA seem to have just handed out whistles at Xmas to absolute wackos or pantomime rejects. Napier now added to a long list of wallopers who should never be allowed in Sinclair St ever again. If we went in 2 or 3 up there wouldn’t be many arguments about it. Very surprised how passive Partick were in the first half. Sneddon had his best game for them against us today, he’s usually awful and definitely a weak link. Two cracking saves in the first half, Oakley and Crawford I think? There’s a massive difference between turning up just before kick off and expecting to stroll in without any issues and arriving in good time and not seeing kick off, or arriving before kick off and missing 15-20 minutes of the game. It’s not really good enough to say “just turn up earlier” when, six and a half years after these turnstiles were installed, we’re still getting issues whenever the crowd exceeds 1300. I agree this is Warren Hawke’s folly in the first place, but there has to be some sort of contingency plan put in place for events such as this. With most tickets sold in advance, the club should have had an idea of the crowd, and for so many to turn up after 2.45 is not uncommon. How did they deal with that? They did nothing, and then blamed the fans in a tweet after the game. That’s shite. I suggested the last time there was such issues (probably against Partick in August) that handheld scanners at the exit gate could be one way of clearing the congestion, but there seems no real desire to do anything to help with the problem. We saw MCT moving away from calling Arbroath mascots “wee cuties” to issuing rallying calls to “bring a friend” this morning, and that General Manager saying he wants more big crowds in the future at Cappielow this evening. Well I’m sorry, but you’ll have to make Cappielow more accessible for that to happen. I can’t imagine any folk who wouldn’t normally bother deciding to go to the Montrose or Arbroath games when they have to finish their pint for 2.30 before making the 90 second walk from the Nosrseman to get into a big game, 2.40 for a game with a smaller crowd. Blaming the fans for recurring problems when you’ve done fuck all to address it yourselves is nonsense. And while we’re at it, a young lad in front of me was refused entry to the ground and told his ticket had been cancelled, much to his bemusement. I can’t expect to be privy to everything going on at Cappielow, but not since those two racist fuckwits were booted have I known of bans. Is there anything serious enough that has gone on in recent times to justify banning fans? Stevie Aitken's Love Child Posted January 14 Share Posted January 14 I joined the queue at 2.45 and didn't get into the ground till 3 minutes after kick off. 2 more turnstiles is probably all that would be needed to resolve most of the issues faced with queuing IMO, and setting up individual queues for each turnstile I feel would also help. Funnily enough I did overhear a steward explaining to someone that they'd suggested themselves to the club having handheld scanners several months ago, but the club said it wasn't possible. It is an easily observable fact that trying to get into the ground is far, far worse than it ever was in the past. That's beside the point anyway, as people were inconveniencing themselves by getting in the queue earlier than they ever had before Warren's legacy, and were still left standing outside for 15 minutes of the game. The current custodians of the club have inherited this mess so the root cause isn't on them, but tough shit, they are now Morton FC so it's their shambles to fix. A tweet blaming when fans arrived isn't acceptable, the issue is there simply aren't enough turnstiles. You'd think if Warren Hawke could count we wouldn't have ended up with just 4 turnstiles when you evidently need 8 as an absolute minimum, but this is the hand you were dealt in inheriting 20 years of gross incompetence from charlatans. Considering how costly they were in the first place with that idiot overseeing procurement I don't know how easy it is to fix, but they need to at least double the number. It won't be a popular choice with how much money more turnstiles will divert from other areas if it ends up a six figure sum again, but it'll cost us more not to do it in the long run.
