MORTON v Queen Of The South Sat 14 Dec

Absolutely brutal. We’re a bit fortunate to get out of that shitshow with a point, despite those bumpkins being terrible as well. We’ve somehow contrived to weaken our team in the transfer window and are no closer to having the likes of Nesbitt, McHugh and Cadden all playing well in the same setup. Then we change things and turn into a completely shapeless rabble.

McGinty is a Stuart McCluskey Mark. II figure who will spread panic across the back line on a regular basis; Rogers also had a bizarre case of the Ramsbottoms all day long.

It’s a poor result that could’ve been a lot worse but the main concern for me is that we’ve gone backwards again after a spell looking like a half decent team.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

That was a game we should have won today. Didn't really start playing until the second half.

There's a storm on the horizon

And for that I can't see the sun

For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement

That wasn’t great. In the first half especially, we were just totally devoid of pace and ideas, as we have been for a fair bit of this season. I have to assume Strapp had an injury, but surely you’d stick McAlister or someone at LWB rather than a young guy with ZERO defensive ability. Bizarre stuff, which wouldn’t have had to happen if the squad wasn’t so oddly balanced.

Wasn't great but the weather was absolutely wild so difficult to be too harsh.

Two pretty poor mistakes for the goal though. The second wasn't really much to do with being out of position - thought Colville struggled for the whole game.

We’ve played like that for the majority of the season, the weather had very little influence.

I’m sure that both managers will be happy to blame the conditions but that’s no reason why professional footballers can’t play basic five yard passes along the ground, which both sides were fucking up with alarming regularity today. They also really aren’t obliged to just shell the ball up to the smallest forwards in their squad either.

The conditions were fine for the game at Palmerston in September and the standard was almost as poor.

Should have spent your afternoon at Murrayfield watching the rugby like me! Corporate hosp!

I know we've not been great but there's been improvements.

Regardless, it's still difficult to be too harsh after games in them conditions.

Agree with the rest of this but I thought McGinty was decent? Made a few good blocks to cover for Colville being out of position near the end.

I'd probably go for Doolan and Orsi up top next week. Bob looked miles off the pace for big chunks of the match.

McAlister and Millar need to be emptied at the end of the season. Neither are as terrible as some make them out to be but they dont offer a great deal either.

Thought McHugh done OK with not a lot to work from. Decent touches to bring others into play as well.

When he went off they started to get more joy furhrer up the park because it wasn't sticking for us up top.

Incompetent decision

Their first goal? Possibly one of the worst ‘attempts’ at saving a shot that was travelling at about 4 mph you will ever witness

Redeemed himself in second half

No joy in saying it but we are a lot better without Millar.

I also thought that we improved once he was subbed.

Feels like two points dropped, though.

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.

Thought McHugh played well but there was very little support from midfield at times.

Reading most people's opinion in the queen's first goal I thought it was a well placed strike and Rogers had no chance? Tumilty afforded him far too much space to cut inside.

Awful conditions to play football in but this is no excuse for the first 45 minutes. The first goal was like watching walking football with Tumilty, Nesbitt, and Rogers all at fault while the second was down to a forward being asked to pretend to be a defender. The second half was a big improvement but still very little football on offer. Morton deserved at least a draw but could and should have come away with three points. Unlike others, I thought our centre-backs did ok in the testing conditions but have to agree that Millar looks finished. Aside from Cadden, there is not much creativity in the team but this appears to be the Hopkin way.

When Strapp went off and knowing as Hopkin did that Millar was going off soon after, he wanted to keep Jim in middle, so there is only one option to go to left back and that is Nicky Cadden. He has experience of playing left wingback for Livvy and may have played left back in a back 4 too.

Putting Colville in there was utterly stupid and could be saisld to have cost us a win if it weren't for Mchughs penalty miss.

Since we have absolutely no cover at left back, Cadden has to play there since Jacobs going there will mean we have Millar and Mcalister in centre midfield again which is quite simply not an option anymore.

It wasn’t particularly hard hit and Rogers looked to have it covered, but it went in anyway, Either he fluffed his dive or it hit a divot in the grassless goalmouth.
