Inverness vs Morton

Willing to cut Welsh some slack having just signed yesterday.

Other than that...

Genuinely, is Rogers much of an upgrade on Ramsbottom?

Ramsbottom would've conceded from the deflected free kick in the first half and maybe would've saved the one on one. On that showing, much of a muchness. Not sure what's happened to him over the last couple of years.

Welsh has genuinely been non-existent all game.

It's his first ever senior appearance (I think). Not doubting you at all but there are experienced pros in that lineup and you'd expect them to be better than this.

Stop playing a past-it midfielder and Brunei league reject at centre-back would be a good start.

FACT CHECK: The team he played for, while located in Brunei, actually competed in the Singapore league. As such, he was never rejected from the Brunei league. We rate this claim as MOSTLY FALSE and the signing as BRILLIANT.

There is absolutely no structure organisation or leadership about that defence. The manager carries the can for that.

The shape for goals 3 and 5 are so basic.

A week to get them rattled into shape with a Gavin gunningesque centre back signing.

McLean looks every bit the player that was hardly inspiring at Dumbarton last season. Grant looks a long way from being the player he was (or fit at all). McAlister is still being selected as a centre half. Henk is already away.

Recruitment at centre half has been a bit of a nightmare. Hopefully Welsh is better at centre half than he looked at right back tonight.

2 of the 5 goals should be a case of McLean actually defending, and knocking out back to Rogers or out of play. The biggest part of those goals is just a defender not trying to defend.

The most worrying part is that McAllister has been our best and most consistent defender all season. And Welsh looks like he'd get bullied by most strikers in this league if he played centre-back.

Can we sign anymore players on loan, or is 3 the maximum?

5 per season, 4 at one time, and I think just one from any one club at one time. From within the SPFL.

Why is it we need to take an absolute pumping every season and need to hound the team until they actually start playing decent football?

That was laughable tonight.

McAlister is never a cb. Also I’ve no idea why we loaned out tumilty, he at least had a bit of pace about him and could go forward.

We looked knackered as well chasing the ball most of the game. No idea how this season will turn out!

Only positive being Colville.

Defence is an absolute shambles. Welsh showing his inexperience by standing off a player who would hurt any team in Scotland at the first goal.

Cadden’s penalty was ridiculous but hardly surprised we missed it. He showed promise in spells with his pace causing them problems.

McAlister all over the place and shouldn’t be playing at centre half. Millar struggled. McHugh struggled.

Brian MacLean was a disgrace. Claiming offside any time the ball was anywhere near him whilst having no fucking idea whereabouts he actually was in the first place.

That was clearly a game where Salkeld and Sutton start due to Inverness’s physicality alone.

We need to sign players that can defend properly. Embarassing in that second half.

I like Hopkin but he needs to take responsibility for this mess. He has had a few months to build a squad and whilst the midfield and attacking options are decent, that back line is embarrassing and he has had plenty time to sort it. That was embarrassing. I really like Cadden but that was a ridiculous pen at a crucial time. Score that and we are still in the game!

Get Jim out of the back 4, bring in a quality right back and move Welsh into the centre where he is far more comfortable by all accounts and either get Grant up to speed or sign another CB.

Huge credit to the fans who travelled, deserved so much better. The club should actually reimburse them in some way.
