TRVMP Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Today was impressive. Not quite the finished article but so much better than previous games. It could have gone either way - both sides rode their luck at times. Big-spending Partick probably shaded it on chances but in my opinion our overall play was better. Wilson absolutely class, Mullen excellent, thought Lyall and Moffatt are coming along well, Crawford looked the part, thought Boyes really grew into the game. We still look a bit shaky with misplaced passes at times and I'm sorry to say it but Reynolds just doesn't have it.
Tink Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 As has been said, a surprisingly good performance today. Mullen was excellent. I still have doubts about the full backs - they don’t offer much going forward. Boyes was superb, with Graham having the least effective game I can remember against us. Broadfoot still looks like an accident waiting to happen. Wilson was man of the match. The advanced three showed some promise, with Crawford having his best game in a Morton shirt (although the bar was low, he did have a good game). Garritty played well and gave his all. As for JET, we were told that Dougie had him on trial to assess his fitness. If he’s fit enough to win a contract, then I’ll be starting next week too. He’s at least three stones overweight. He had some great touches, but he has to stay off the fried breakfasts for a few months before he will look like a footballer. At least Dougie seems to have recognised that Reynolds and Davies are duds, and has relegated them to the bench.
TONofmemories Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Shock; Crawford is actually a good player. Hopelessly ridiculed first time round by those that never played the game. Good on that man TIME FOR CHANGE!
Alibi Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Thought we now look like a team. The changes worked well & maybe the rocket up the arse that Cammy needs. Jet not fit but when he is he will be a handful. Shut imperious. Midfield looks creative and happy with close passing. Not the finished article but we look as if we will be competitive and better as the season goes on. Negatives: Reynolds and Davies disappointingly mediocre at this stage. However I think we have a team. Next week May tell us more. Great soundtrack today with loads of noise. Partick are not as good as they like to think. I reckon Graham and Crawford are on a downhill slope. "Any nation given the opportunity to regain its national sovereignty and which then rejects it is so far beneath contempt that it is hard to put words to it."

We could have had Didier Deschamps and Sergio Busquets beside each other today and they wouldn't have done as much as Wilson did. Chicken_Soup Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 There are a few very prominent posters who should feel thoroughly embarrassed following that result. Talk of certain relegation, worst team since 13/14, impending shame game, desperation signings and more. That’s an excellent point away to the title favourites. A lot of knicker wetters better put a dry pair on.
Drew Busby's Moustache Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Happy to say I wear boxers and not knickers. That apart...have to say I concur with The Soup.
Mr.Blue Posted August 4, 2024 Author Posted August 4, 2024 Reading on PnB that one of our young fans had their scarf taken off them by an older Partick fan. Anyone see/hear anything about this? Fucking bang out of order if its true. There's a storm on the horizon And for that I can't see the sun For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement For the ice cream van to come

Partick supporters are raging about it as well, especially since no-one stepped in to chin the cunt. Same old story - it only takes one or two arseholes to bring shame on an entire support.

A decent result yes but it's one game. Concerns are more than valid and won't go away after a 0-0 draw at Partick. Encouraging signs but no more than that just now. "CORNBEEF IS A BELLEND"

Surprised no one stepped in to help the young fella. Hope he's OK. TopCat Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Some ropey pre-season games and an opening nil nil draw aren't enough info to draw any conclusions as to our likely league finish. The knicker wetting, MCT meltdowns and braying about Ali Crawford having one good performance are all equally ridiculous.

The knicker wetting, MCT meltdowns and braying about Ali Crawford having one good performance are all equally ridiculous. If the League Cup counted as pre-season then we'd have been relegated two seasons ago (or quite possibly last too) and would be desperately struggling financially too. It also quite clearly wasn't written off as such by either the GM or Imrie in their genuine 'pre-season' preparation. So while you may be correct about those performances and results not translating to the league campaign - it's already a key target not met. The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Aye, I meant the performances rather than the financial impact. Getting papped out of an easy group has probably cost us the equivalent of a decent first team player's wages already.
