Really? What kind of level do you think he can go back into?*

Bagged from a club who were at that point in the relegation places in League 1 ( and went on to get relegated)

Can't see an English Championship/League 1 team take a punt on him after that, at least not before he proves himself again at another club.

* Not saying us btw, but surely a Scottish Prem team would be a decent level for him.

He wasn't a complete disaster though; when he'd taken over they were 19th, firmly in the relegation battle, and he took them comfortably into mid-table, finishing 12th. It's poor but doesn't rule out hin getting another job at that level or a club at the top end of English League Two. After being a success with Hearts before going down there, I don't think he's likely to take a job outwith the top six up here.

I know for example Steve Clarke is a far bigger name in management than Neilson, but Kilmarnock could only attract him due to being a Kilmarnock fan while his English opportunities had completely dried up. It's not outwith the realms of possibility that a team like Dundee or Motherwell could get Neilson if they could give him a good budget, but I think it's more likely that he'd wait for another shot at Hearts or the Aberdeen job becoming available rather than going to a smaller club than Hearts. Not that Aberdeen or even Hearts fans would be entirely enamoured with that scenario, but I could certainly see Neilson thinking he's above any smaller jobs.

As for McBookie's odds, they're meaningless. They'll have compiled candidates from a quick trawl of forums, hence the presence of Wake, and as with all lower league managerial markets any shifts in odds could easily be down to about a tenner worth of bets in such a small market. There's almost certainly no insider knowledge involved.

In Crawford's statement, he says that the club has already received some top applications.

Good. No point having a vacancy if we don't get some reports of household name foreign ex-players applying, before them not even getting an interview and we appoint someone from closer to home.

Get yerself tae...

He's certainly got more to offer to the game than your weirdo pick of Kenny McDowall. And he's not a Paisley bastarrd.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

I wouldn’t be totally against someone in a similar mould to Cathro. There is something to be said for moving away from the old guard of Scottish ex-players masquerading as managers.

You address me by my proper title, you little bollocks!
