Russell and Jai were mentioned. Russell isn't injured, and according to Jai neither is he.

Jai hasn't played for about 9 months and it sounds like the decision was taken that Russell wasn't a valuable asset so they sent him on his way.

It's all about risk Vs reward do time will tell if it's been the right decisions.

Serious question - why do you keep pushing this line that we had to keep the contract offer on the table in order to be due compensation?

At this level, we really shouldn't be turning our noses up at any form of comp.

Heard the "Undisclosed fee" could be as low as £500 for Russell. Surely that's nonsense.

With each of the three of them their next step is the one most likely to define their career, either they fulfil their promise to the maximum and get a decent move or they stick where they are or drop down to a lower level.

For that reason while I would like to hear we got some decent compensation I would be even more pleased to hear that we had negotiated a sizable percentage sell-on clause.

If neither then the situation is quite farcical.

The post was in response to someone mentioned contracts being withdrawn and all we know is that's what happened. Noting has been said about waiving a right to anything.

You've been saying since Friday that withdrawing offers means we get no compensation. This isn't the case. The only way we get no compensation is if we tell whichever Scottish club who ends up signing the player that we don't want any.

edit: providing that we offered same/better contracts to the player in question at least a week before their previous deal expired, and kept it open for 21 days afterwards... which all indications are that we did.

A bit of transparency from the club/Hawke/Rae/anybody would be welcome. Seems we are run by amateurs. Tiffoney arrangement is simply ridiculous. If it's because Livi are paying all his wages therefore saving us a wage then it demonstrates that we are a tinpot wee club destined for the seaside leagues in the near future.

The telegraph quotes the club website and clearly states that the club have therefore no compensation due.

Strange one.

What a fucking balls up this is. Will be interesting to hear the reasoning behind letting our most valuable asset go for absolutely nothing.

Allowing breakthrough marketable development assets go without compensation (if that is the case), during a period where sustainability has been pinned on the production and sale of such assets, and also making big noise back in June about contract extensions to the likes of Purdue, Langan, Eardley and Hynes to protect our assets seems confused, contradictory or comes across as people not knowing what they are doing.

A young player, with over 100 first team games, in a position that clubs struggle with, Russell was decided he wasn't potentially valuable?

And as for Jai, there's no point being in the youth development game without taking risks. The whole model is based on hoping bigger fish take risks on our products.

Said this before, but there's nowhere close to enough clarity from the club about these things.

The odd interview with players on the website doesn't really make up for (apparently) making a cunt of things and not bothering to offer an explanation for it. There never seems to be anything in the Tele these days either, they even went as far as stating the club declined to comment regarding Russell's compensation.

What pisses me off is that the club continually let stories like this grow arms and legs instead of just releasing a short statement clarifying things.

Have you worked it out yet or do you still want me to answer that question?
