Some news of recognition of our 150th Anniversary, at the Raith game next week.

https://gmfc.net/morton-vs-raith-rovers-celebrate-150-years-of-greenock-morton/

  • Pipe Band and flag raising
  • former players from all eras on the pitch at half time doing a lap of honour with hall of famers
  • 1000 tickets given away to local schools
  • fans encourage to wear tops from all eras or from an era that was special to them

I like the sound of this.

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.

Sounds like it will be a good day and obviously a bit of work has been put in so hopefully get the crowd to back that up.

Think the anniversary stuff has been a bit underwhelming though. The top aside, the golf day, etc are things that tend to be done anyway so this is the first one that includes all the fans and hopefully not the last.

A friendly against a decent team would have been good but would rather go without then getting a Rangers or Celtic B team - assuming it isn't easy to get a 'glamour' game arranged.

Guess we can just make this the match thread.

If this is the programme cover I'm buying one for the first time in years.

I thought Morton stopped producing programmes recently?

When did 'Golf Days' become a thing for Morton?  Golf Clubs are Arsehole Farms and should be treated as such.

They did- the season before last, before re-introducing a very basic, over priced at £2.50 one last season and binning it this year.

Nice to see them release this one for a special occasion, though. If this policy is introduced to all facets of the club’s operations, we can maybe expect the General Manager to reply to emails around Christmas time, or perhaps tell him when it’s our birthdays.

I suppose having no programme is better than having a half arsed programme, but it is a sad indictment of the way things have become.  It was the club's official publication, it should never have been allowed to decline.

Anyway, I see that big Zeppelin is still at the club.   Why the club entertain such a conveyor belt of chancers and Walter Mitty's I dont know.

Turns out that's not the programme, just a social media graphic.

Imrie’s said in his match preview that Boyes is still out as it's a concussion, but Garrity should be back.

Absolute shitshow from the club to not bother opening the old Cowshed turnstiles, totally undermining their own good gesture of giving out free tickets with a queue that's all the way back under the railway bridge.

I met the guy who used to write, edit and compile the programmes at hospitality a few years ago. He lived in Canada, if I remember correctly, but would go to games when home to visit family. He was doing the whole thing voluntarily. It was a post retirement hobby for him, but at the time he was considering stopping.

Have we ever replaced Jonathan with another full time media officer?

By my count we gave the ball away in our own half through trying to play out 10 times in that first half. Admittedly 7 of those were in the first 20 minutes so we've become less shambolic as the game has gone on, but we're not good enough to play through their press and persisting with it is asking for trouble. Hard to look at individual performances when the whole team is such a shambolic mess but Lyall especially has been an absolute passenger, when we're being overrun the way we were in that first 20 minutes Wilson needs Gillespie beside him.
