Appointed first team coach, but also called him McKinnon's right hand man.

Will there be an Assistant Manager on top or does he assume both roles?

Laurie Ellis was assistant at Dundee Utd and he he had backroom three. Think it was same at Raith.

Ellis was player coach at Raith under McKinnon and moved to dundee Utd to be his assistant so always had a three man team.

Utd manager has brought his own assistant in now and there was an article saying we wanted Ellis a while back.

Think it was the evening telegraph

One of the things that's really struck me about McKinnon is that he seems to have really deep knowledge of players and the game and has a really clear idea of what he wants. When he just arrived he said that he spent his time out going and watching as many games as possible to find out about teams and players, and that's shown in his dealings so far - it seems like he knows a great deal about the guys he's signed, their strengths and weaknesses, how they're going to fit in to the team etc.

It's a million miles away from the way every other manager in the last decade has conducted their business and all going to plan, the knowledge McKinnon and his staff have of other teams and players could be invaluable over the season. We know he's a manager who is willing to change his tactics during games, so knowing other sides inside out like should be worth a few points...it was fairly obvious that he had Duffy's card well and truly marked with Raith, it'd be nice to see a Morton manager doing that to other teams rather than the other way round.

Edit: Meant that as a general point, but brought it up in relation to Taylor talking about scouting for McKinnon.

Also with Brechin.

This positivity coming out of the club is fucking excellent at the moment. Whether it actually produces results remains to be seen but it's a million miles from Duffy's pish every week. Even the way Ray speaks about transfers/trialists, instead of the whole "we'll wait and see if we want to spend our budget on this jobber" approach every summer.

Remember the time we publically announced that we'd signed a player who was something like 14th choice.  :1eye:  :1eye:  :1eye:  :1eye:  :1eye:

We can't be naive about this - we're a mid-sized team in this division, we don't have unlimited money, and we can't expect everything to go our way all the time. But hell yes, it's so refreshing having someone around who doesn't admit defeat before the battle even starts. McKinnon (and Duffy, in fact) worked with small clubs before, he's under no illusions whatsoever. But coming in with a positive attitude is new to us and it will hopefully rub off on the players instead. A real sense of belief - not being unrealistic, just belief - could make the difference between this season and the last two.
