Squad and transfers 2019/20

Hej

The smart money is on Dumbarton, where Jim Duffy has somehow been taken by surprise by the start of a new season yet again, to the point that they had to scrap their friendly with Dunfermline last night because he hasn’t signed enough players to field a team.

“"Duffy confirmed the game on Tuesday was cancelled due to having no players. When asked if he had any deals in the pipeline he said no."

Incredible

Trying too hard ^

^^^ doing it wrong

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

While our preparations still leave a lot to be desired, that's shocking. And to think, some of our fans still pine for that loser.

Well at least you've managed one opinion that you haven't totally flip-flopped on in the space of just a few weeks.

Not flip-flopped, just feel it could be unfair to write players off who showed in flashes they may have something to offer, when you throw in the JJ factor. In Waddell’s case it would still be taking a risk as we can’t be sure how he’d perform under a proven manager. However even experienced pros like Tidser, Millar and McAlister appearred to be at a loss at times as to what they were supposed to be doing, so where would that leave a novice in his first season?

There was one glorious night that Johnny Page pretended he was Franz Beckenbauer, but he was shite every other game. Should we just have persevered with him?

Except that a few months ago you were more than happy to write off Waddell for being 'very inconsistent' and/or for displaying 'a tendency to hide' regardless of whether JJ was still in a job or not. There were no such caveats to your judgment then and nothing else has changed.

What we are seeing here then is a straightforward case of revisionism because i) you haven't seen a dung player slice a ball into his own net for a few weeks and/or ii) buy into the now alarmingly common belief of 'Hoppy' as God's gift to coaching who is likely to transform a total carthorse into the next Franco Baresi.

Like how you wrote off Gunning?

Chris Millar mentioned Kyle Jacobs along with other squad members in a random tele article about his age and fitness, so I guess that's about as official as its going to get from the club.

Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!

Aye, I noticed that too. To not have as much as a "welcome to the club, Kyle" tweet is piss poor by any measure.

Think some are making far too big a deal about nothing here.

We announced him on the 23rd of May. His contract with Queens only had a week left, its not like he was signed 6 months before and we had to confirm it again.

https://gmfc.net/2019/05/23/kyle-jacobs-signs-pre-contract-agreement/

We announced it on twitter, we tweeted a goal he scored against us and  we tweeted "Welcome to Morton" in response to Jacobs tweet about joining us.

Only issue i can see is that there is no photo on the squad page!

Don't see an issue here at all.

The number on his shorts is slightly smaller than the rest of the team's.

There's a difference between a pre-contract and a contract though. It's possible that something could have happened in the interim for both parties to cancel.

Again, it really isn't hard to take a photo of him when he joins up and tweet it saying he's finalised his move. It's really not asking a great deal of a professional football club to be able to manage the absolute basics of communication; I don't care whether Jonathan is still there or not, any employee could have done it in literally less than a minute. It's basic stuff.

Edit: He's not here either https://gmfc.net/football/first-team-squad/.

The fact that all the players that have signed since have made it on to the squad page (bar Sutton) makes it inevitable that people would question whether it hit a snag or not.

A quick message saying the contract was finalised and he is here and adding him to the squad list is basic stuff.

They also seem to have forgot that they appointed a goalkeeper coach.
