Seeing as the GM claims that the club was busy coordinating, err, postponement news with the rancid visiting outfit today, I'd like the above option to be seriously explored on the following grounds: 1) We have played at 3PM on Hogmanay previously with no issue - such as Forfar away in the 2000s, and a Renfrewshire derby that produced more alcohol poisoning than a backpacker trip to Laos. 2) While some fans might not be able to attend, the overall gate for such a local match over the festive period will be far higher than whatever shan Tuesday night in February the SPFL push for. This is very straightforward stuff - Scottish football and GMFC are missing a trick by not using obvious holiday dates in the calendar to boost crowds. A decent striker would get £1000 per week. If signed until the end of the season, the additional crowd needed would be about 941. It’s not an exact science, but anything below 2200-2500 would be costly and would mean we lose funding for a good championship forward. ^^^ swing and a miss Given the rancid conditions we may have lost a couple of hundred on the day itself. But a more than successful alternative to whichever dung midweek in midwinter the 'beaks' at the SPFL originally called for. Well done to GMFC for seizing an obvious commercial opportunity despite the complaints of a minority - more of this please. The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

TRVMP
Went on the wee Partick forum and was slightly disappointed to see how level-headed most (but not all) of them are. My favorite was: "Doolan is so pish. Dread to think how bad we'd be if we had Morton's budget." A very fair point. We have a manager in his first senior role who time and again, despite his imperfections, works wonders with limited resources. Partick have a rookie manager who thinks Garrity's cross today was a hopeful chip and not a perfectly-placed setup for a downward header. Hopeless. Tubes
What an end to the game and the year Glorious sticking it up those bastards with a last minute winner. Fantastic ball in for Blues too, good to see Garrity back in amongst it and contributing the way we know he can. If we can just slightly tweak the personnel in this window we will actually be decent. Having now watched that goal again about 20 times it's clear that Garrity's cross is absolute perfection, picking out Blues amongst a crowd of defenders, as was Blues' finish with the downwards header. If he'd headed it directly towards goal there's a good change the keeper would have saved it. As it was, he had no chance. It was quite simply a perfect cross and finish, and for Doolan to dismiss it as anything less is just sour grapes.
Mr.Blue
Fuck Doolan. He's scrambling to save face. No mention of who's leaving or new signings yet? Fucking sort it out Dougie . In all seriousness the transfer window is coming at the right time for us. Picking up some momentum with recent results and who we move on/ bring in could have a big say on the rest of the season. I just hope yesterdays result and recent form hasn't covered the cracks in that we need to shift some of the deadwood and million wingers we have. 45 minutes ago, Tubes said: What an end to the game and the year Glorious sticking it up those bastards with a last minute winner. If you actually look at the facts and consequences of yesterday’s game on the club finances, there were approx 500 fewer Partick fans than would normally travel to Cappielow. Also, the club had to police the game (as I predicted and probably influenced by the choice of date). Apart from Rangers, I can’t remember the last time we had police at a championship game. The cost of policing the game is about £15k. The loss of revenue from the reduced away attendance is just under £10k. The club was practically giving away hospitality places which didn’t sell out (despite the club propaganda) as there were empty seats in the stand. All in, I reckon the decision to host the game yesterday has probably cost us about £30k. A great piece of work by the GM and the board. It was great to get three points and to see the team actually begin to play some decent football, but we cannot afford to waste money with stupid decisions like this one. Is this all fact or are you making this up? How do you know Partick were 500 fans lighter? I also find it very hard to believe that it cost 15k to have police in attendance considering there was perhaps a handful of them there? Highlights up and both of our goals from a footballing point of view were lovely especially the first. For the second Garrity does the simple thing of shift and cross and Blues does well to get the header down. Not bad for an anti football team. I can’t be sure of exact policing costs, as it is a few years since I held a large event, but I reckon they are pretty accurate based on the costs from a few years ago. It may even have been more, as I don’t know if the police would charge extra for a Hogmanay game. The cost is ridiculous, but that’s what the police charge. If anyone is a member of MCT they can ask the club how much it cost to police the game.

Jamie_M
We won. With a glorious injury time winner, spoiling that lot's New Year in the process. Therefore it was 100% correct to play the game when we did.

GiGi
I haven't enjoyed a game that much since Motherwell, and just because it was Partick and their stupid wee fanny brigade it might have been even better. Left the ground genuinely really happy. I dont agree with having away fans in the shed. I've changed my mind about this before but get them to fuck. Having them just march in because there are no stewards or barriers to stop them is a total brass neck for the club. It worked in our favour because we got it right up them in close proximity but can't have that again. Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'
