AyrshireTon
February 4th - 2017 - Queen of the South 3-0 Morton http://youtu.be/c9gdRh39g9o 2012 - Motherwell 6-0 Morton Scottish Cup - oh dear. 2006 - Morton 0-0 Peterhead Gretna sat top and would win it by a fair bit. Peterhead would come back to haunt us in the play-offs. 1997 - Morton 2-0 St. Mirren (Lilley, Mahood) Rearranged from New Year, we ended a run of 14 years without a home derby win. And I was stuck doing a parents' evening at Greenock Academy. 1995 - Morton 1-0 Brechin City (Alexander) This win kept us in the hunt for promotion, level with Dumbarton and four points behind leaders Stenny. 1984 - Kilmarnock 0-1 Morton (Robertson) Duffy was captain at this time. After this, Partick sat top, Dumbarton second, then us. 1967 - Morton 3-1 Queen of the South (Harper Bolton, Mason) Kept us top, we'd win the league by some distance. 1939 - King's Park 6-5 Morton One of three separate 6-5 defeats that season. McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie. AyrshireTon
February 5th - 2011 - Inverness Caledonian Thistle 5-1 Morton (Lyle) A Scottish Cup tie. As part of his 5th birthday weekend, I took my boy to this. To cap that, I had to take him to the bogs when Lyle scored our only goal. 2000 - Ayr United 3-2 Morton (Anderson, Curran) http://youtu.be/6tY99ArigfM 1994 - Clydebank 0-0 Morton 1983 - Hibernian 2-0 Morton 1978 - Albion Rovers 0-1 Morton (Ritchie) Scottish Cup tie. Next up, Meadowbank at home. 1977 - Morton 2-0 St. Johnstone (McGhee, Brown) 1972 - Morton 1-0 Cowdenbeath (Osborne penalty) Scottish Cup. Quite a lot of defeats in this one, including a few to Rangers. And then there's this... 1938 - St. Mirren 7-0 Morton McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. AyrshireTon
February 8th 2003 - Morton 1-1 East Fife (Stuart MacDonald) A slight stutter on our way to the title. 2000 - Brechin City 0-0 Morton (aet - Morton won on penalties) The draw would give us Rangers at home. Except we wouldn't be allowed to play it at Cappielow..... Here's the winning penalty from Stevie Aitken. http://youtu.be/UhdC8V9KMOI 1994 - Cowdenbeath 1-2 Morton (Anderson, Fowler) The replay from the previous post. Stevie Aitken's Love Child
Remember the Brechin game in 2000 well, almost as much for the shock of finding out that super Caley had gone ballistic and dumped Celtic out of the cup that very same night. Stevie Aitken though. Hero 😠
Alibi
Where was that Brechin game played? Alibi
Brechin Never been to Brechin but didn't realise they had a big stand behind their goal. I always assumed their ground was more like Stair Park or a downmarket version of Somerset Park. SpoonTon
Never been to Brechin but didn't realise they had a big stand behind their goal. I always assumed their ground was more like Stair Park or a downmarket version of Somerset Park. They've got a wee tiny Junior style main stand, some terracing behind one goal, a bigger stand built a mile and a half behind the other, and a hedge. It's like an amalgamation of lower league Scottish grounds, with a hedge. Character.

I am sure I have said it before but in my youth some of us were on the pitch having a kick around with the players after a match.
AyrshireTon
I love the Glebe - proper hicksville. Same here. Give me Glebe Park, Stair Park or Station Park any day over those soulless legoland kits which have become the norm higher up the leagues. McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. TRVMP
Same here. Give me Glebe Park, Stair Park or Station Park any day over those soulless legoland kits which have become the norm higher up the leagues. This is the correct answer. Grounds with character are a dying breed and should be preserved.
vikingTON
Which is why the oldest ground still in use in Scottish football (and among the top ten oldest in the UK) should be granted protected status as a national cultural monument, to prevent any shan chief executive knocking it down and replacing it with a Legoland dump at IBM. Cultural preservation should apply at all levels and not just for diddy teams that we get to visit and take points off for a laugh. The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Roof is low enough you get the sound trapped and a decent atmosphere can be created. what the picture does not show well is there is a slope up to the stand so even row 1 is raised and gets ok view. slope also adds to entertainment when fans decide to celebrate and some forget the slope and beer dont mix. TigerTon
Quite enjoyed my first trip to Glebe Park for the 1-0 game this season. Minging with the home fans was interesting. One old boy in a Forfar jacket berated Ross Forbes for the entire first half with some lovely homophobic outbursts.
AyrshireTon
February 9th 2016 - Alloa Athletic 2-2 Morton (McManus, McCluskey) Comfortable at 2-0 up, we ended up holding on for a point. Only goalcam highlights for this one. http://youtu.be/XkFUeB4gvU0 2013 - Airdrie 0-4 Morton (Wilkie, O'Brien, McDonald, McMenamin) 2008 - Morton 1-2 Clyde (Millar) Probably one of the least deserved defeats ever, but it was significant because it was Jim McInally's last in charge. Also Brian Wake's first league appearance. There is a clip of photos and footage of this, if you can be bothered, filmed on a potato by a Clyde fan who was out having a fag at their winning goal (at 10:00 on the clip). http://youtu.be/ExmJOXj_2tU 1993 - Morton 0-0 Ayr United 1985 - Hibernian 5-1 Morton (Pettigrew) 1980 - Hibernian 3-2 Morton (McLaughlin, Thomson) 1977 - Airdireonians 1-1 Morton (Brown) 1966 - Kilmarnock 3-0 Morton Scottish Cup replay A few random others - 1952 - Inverness Clachnacuddin 1-2 Morton Our only meeting to date, I believe. 1935 - Motherwell 7-1 Morton Just another ordinary trip to Fir Park. 1929 - Morton 5-0 King's Park Scottish Cup 1918 - Morton 3-1 St. Mirren 1901 - Morton 3-1 St. Bernard's Scottish Cup McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
