irnbru
I would like to see Morton stretch beyond the covering of the contracts. Although proving these points is difficult, as is producing a monetary figure for them, I'd like Morton to claim for the costs involved with; - The cost of searching for another manager, at a time of the season where (theoretically) the best managers are already in employment. The labour involved in drawing up a new shortlist, contacting agents/managers, booking venues away from the public eye for interviews and the time taking to hold these interviews are all costs raised from McKinnon leaving. The same applies to the assistant manager and the fitness coach/sport science positions. - The signing on fees, including any agent fees, for a new manager, assistant manager and fitness coach that wouldn't have been necessary had McKinnon et al not left. - The cost of printing new training gear for all three new staff. - The cost of any specialist equipment the old management team bought that the new staff do not require/want. - The labour costs involved in changing the club website, social media output and press releases involving McKinnon's departure. Some of them are very minimal and probably almost to the point of clutching at straws, but Morton should be setting their argument at the highest possible level before any negotiations/hearings take place. Let's get every single penny we can out of this shower. It could be argued he cost us points too by leaving right before a game.
cmdc
We should be demanding much more than that. I suspect this has cost us a ****ing fortune and possibly even that in legal fees alone. GET THEM ****ING HOUNDED. There probably isn’t much more to say at this point.

Breaking with what had become normal procedures (naming the team etc) in the process. Basically dialling in the match preparation that week. vikingTON
Paying the full cost of their contracts isn’t a punishment - bigger clubs could do that without a second thought. A much larger fine and a transfer embargo in January to bury the cunts is the correct outcome. The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

HamCam
It does not inspire confidence in the paper trail, if the club cannot even put out a simple statement. We just have to hope the club has Falkirk and McKinnon bang to rights.
EanieMeany
Breaking with what had become normal procedures (naming the team etc) in the process. Basically dialling in the match preparation that week. Picking the team the day before isn't exactly unheard of. Anywa, I have no doubts the whole saga cost us 3 points at Firhill (and more since). We should be going for the kill on this, every minor thing that can be lobbed into the mix should be there. AWMSC

It's not unheard of, but if he normally picks it at a certain time, works on that shape, has everyone knowing what they are doing then chose not to, saying he will do it when he knew he would be gone, he was messing about with the normal match prep. Also made it easier for the 'caretakers' to arse about with the team.
Mr Toon
It seems to me from the wording of the regulations that this is essentially the SPFL dealing with the clubs rather than with McKinnon and that therefore the sanction they impose if any will be on Falkirk and not on any of the individuals involved. Potentially therefore and depending on their ruling it may be that any legal action against McKinnon would be a separate matter to be settled after all this is decided. Given the SPFL's shambolic recent past it's hard to have much confidence but maybe they will be determined to get it right this time, but time alone will tell. There is no way of proving that him leaving has cost us anything on the football pitch, in regard to wins, losses & dropped points, so we can forget any of that stuff being taken into consideration I would have thought "He's not the messiah........He's a very naughty boy!.............Now P*ss Off!" TRVMP
Unless my mind is playing tricks on me that is not the original statement! Nah, there was definitely something else originally. This, along with the fact that gmfc.net goes down easier than Neymar, is why we copy and paste.

EanieMeany
In the midst of this, the statement of Crawford at the time still bothers me a bit. He said that McKinnon was told that Morton wouldn't stand in the way if a bigger club came, and then proceeded to very much imply that that's what happened. Falkirk should have been told to fuck right off and so should McKinnon when he asked Crawford about it. Regardless of accepting his notice or whatever else, Morton should be telling Falkirk to do one if they come asking about anything. Even mentioning the idea of a bigger club in the statement adds to the overall impression that Morton are a diddy team. Regardless of rights or wrongs, Morton look fuckin stupid out of this. LinwoodTON
This post went relatively unnoticed at the time. Anyone know what the first part means? We made a mistake with the rolling contract idea. We had to give Ray at least 6 months to settle in with his team so why not offer a 1 year full contract? Can't blame the board too much though, they wouldn't have been expecting a snaking of the highest order. The players can't be happy - everyone of them mentioned Ray as the reason for joining.Hopefully they will respond to good backing tomorrow. <span style='font-size: 14px;'><em class='bbc'>"That LinwoodTon's a c*nt, eh?"</em></span>
