Hearing that ICT are wanting to speak to Dougie. Hopefully it's just rumour mongering.  I'd be gutted if he left to go there

There's a storm on the horizon

And for that I can't see the sun

For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement

For the ice cream van to come

No interview on our YouTube this week. Maybe reading into things a bit too much but would have been a change to clear it up that he could have taken if he wasn't interested.

Just need to tell them they can't speak to him and he's under contract.  However likely it's just speculation.  Dougie surely wouldn't want to take on that car crash outfit?

The interview usually comes on social media on a Friday night does it not?

There's an interview with their chairman talking about interviewing applicants from other clubs so if they do want to speak to him you've got to assume he's applied and wants the job.

There wasn't really a mentioned of identifying people or approaching like in some of these interviews (in the article anyway) and the shortlist sounded like it was people who applied.

Thought there was normally something earlier in the week but could be wrong and reading into something that isn't there! It does feel like there's a possibility though.

Could just as easily have been talking about the favourite for the job rather than Imrie.

Kind of resigned to the fact that he'll be applying for most jobs that come up in and around our level and above, inc the ICT job.

As TRVMP says, its a matter of when.

Can only hope that when that time comes, we recruit smart and not go for the usual merry-go-round of Scottish managers.

TIME FOR CHANGE!

What makes you think that? By jumping ship for someone like Caley, he’d be sleepwalking back to a situation exactly how he found Morton in when he was first offered the job. Dougie’s a smart cookie and I’m sure his eyes are wide open to the financial black hole he’d be diving into - unlike his present employer who show financial restraint and responsibility. I’m also sure that his ambition also extends way further that joining the endlessly-repeating list of jobbers bouncing from one mid-tier club to another, for short-term financial gain. I still think he’s in this for the long haul. Managers’ careers are measured on success - and success alone. When he steers Morton into the Premiership or wins a trophy - that’s the time we should really start accepting the fact that he’ll be down the road sooner than later. Until then - I have complete faith in the man, and the fact that his #1 priority will be continue moulding a team in his own image, and utilising whatever resources he can to make this a successful season for us.

He's been very open in saying that he's ambitious. If a job comes up at a bigger club in terms of resources then of course he'd be interested.  Although be gutted if he left Dougie would leave with my best wishes if its all done in the right way.

I don't really think Imrie with his ambitions would give two shits about ICTs financial black hole while they're still chucking money at it. He'd be looking to be long gone by the time the shit hits the fan.

The same way that I don't think financial restraint and responsibility is in any way seen as a positive for an ambitious manager.

I'd still be surprised if he went there but if he's given a decent wage rise and bigger budget then I could see him fancying the job as he might feel he could take ICT further than he's able to take Morton which will get him the sort of recognition and interest from better jobs that he's not really had while at us so far.

Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!

If salary and working conditions are better you can bet he'll be interested. I'm sure he has applied for the ICT job, which shows how far away we are at the moment.

Fan ownership and sensible financial control is a long game though, so if clubs like Inverness with their no fans want to spend more money they don't have, the crash will be all the funnier when it comes.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

Aye, financial restraint isn't really a selling point. Taking advantage of a club throwing cash at him to have a successful season probably is unfortunately no matter how unsustainable it is

A lot of birthday caird pish in that there.

Why would going to a club in a similar position to what he found Morton be seen as a negative rather than a challenge he embraces, backing himself to improve them also wìth a larger budget behind him?

Why would Morton's financial restraint be seen as a positive when he has seemingly thrown his toys out the pram a few times because of it and a club director was in the Tele recently stating they have let Dougie down in that respect?

You say his ambition extends further - but where? Where is the logical next step? Rumours were he went for the Dundee job and never got near it - how does he get there? Saying promotion or a trophy at Morton is the aforementioned birthday caird pish. Repeating his achievements at Morton, or bettering them, at more media-fancied club with a larger budget seems actually a logical step - particularly a club he has history with.

Will be gutted when he moves on, a little moreso if it's to  a competing club at our level. But if they pay the compensation, so be it and we move on.
