One season at Raith apart, I'm thoroughly unimpressed by McKinnon's record and can't get enthused by his potential appointment. Any chance you could talk me round as well?

He done pretty well at Brechin too.

1st season took over in Oct 2012 when they were 8th, finished 3rd in playoffs.

2nd season- Finished 8th.  A poor season but that was a crazy league where load of teams were very close together. They only finished 7 points off Ayr United in 4th.

3rd season-Finished 4th in playoffs.

His record at Brechin ultimately got him the gig at Raith where he had another good season finishing 4th and getting beat off Hibs in playoffs. They finished 19 points clear of us that season and Duffy just couldn't get a result against them!

His performance at United will be where a lot of people judged him. Wasn't great but wasn't as bad as a lot made out and was bagged only 5 points off the top!

He will be no one's first choice, but i still think he could do a good job for us. We don't need a massive step up on Duffy, just someone to come in with a different mentality, fresh ideas, new approach etc. He will know the league well and will know what players he can bring in to make us better.

McKinnon's points per game ratio last season at the point which he was sacked would've seen them finish the season on 61 points. They finished the season on 61 points. Given the resources he had at Dundee Utd, his time there was undoubtedly a failure. They should've romped the league last season. McKinnon got that job because of his connection to Dundee Utd as much as anything else, and it didn't work out for them.

He did well in his one season at Raith. The punt for us would be hoping that he could replicate that. Their fans seem to think highly enough of him - that might be a reason for optimism.

Duffy finished 3rd and 4th with Brechin. Similar record to McKinnon (it's actually difficult to tell why he got the Raith job off the back of that).

Struggling with Brechin is not filling me with joy MadLad.

Wouldn't say it was struggling..

2 playoff finishes is pretty decent for a club that size.

Took over when they were 8th and finished 3rd, poor season in the middle before finished 4th and in the playoffs the following season. Would say that was a successful period overall for him!

Brechin have finished in the playoffs several times since they were brought in (and they won the league the season before they were brought in). His record there is pretty much average for Brechin over the last 15 years.

He took over when they were 8th and finished 3rd in his first season, that's a pretty good season in anyone's book.

To qualify for the playoffs twice in 3 years is better than average IMO and clearly the Raith board agreed and their choice was vindicated that season by reaching the playoffs as well.

The Raith fans also speak highly of him over on PandB so happy to get behind him and see what he can do.

Duffy won league one and took us to play off in second season in Championship. Better that McKinnon if ask me.

Really not bought into this one. Hope he does the business or I will be a mad malt.

In the last 16 seasons, Brechin have spent 3 seasons in the second tier, finished in the top four of the third tier 9 times and finished below that 4 times. I'm not sure where the argument would come from that McKinnon's record there is above average.

Can't see us waiting around another week or so for a decision.

Hopkin doing himself no favours here. Surely it is in his bests interests to make a decision ASAP so he can start talking to the existing squads and potential new signings.

Would imagine both Livvy and Morton players will be pissed off the longer it drags on and rightly so. Morton players especially have waited a month to sort their futures and the board will know their frustrations.

Fully expect to see plan B (McKinnon??) installed this week now.

Shame as Hopkin would have been a brilliant appointment, but it's getting ridiculous now!

To be fair to Hopkin, he might have better options emerge than Livingston and Morton to weigh up.

No-one knows what factors he is considering or what options he has, so it's a bit unfair to criticise him - at the end of the day, it's his career, life and choice to make.

He came closer to accepting than you think though.

Timing wasn't right, no way he was going to take a step backwards when doors are opening for him elsewhere.

Could/should have had him as boss several years ago, when he was keen to take the job.

Where do you see him going next? Signing back up at Livi, or having a crack down South?

Bradford City. Lots of business interests in Yorkshire... might fit.
