Jamie_M
Someone with actual knowledge of how to run a football club would be a massive step forward. Would definitely need a regime change to hire competency.
DreamOakTree
David McKinnon is an ex Ranger's left back who's a very strong willed individual and disciplinarian who doesn't suffer fools gladly. I'm quite surprised he's in the frame but would welcome his appointment. My daughter and his daughter were close friends who were both affected (and impressed) by his strict approach. What does this actually mean in practice? After all 'Sir Walter' Smith has been similarly thought of by the Scottish media but that turned out to be a euphemism for battering youth players about if he didn't get his own way. The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are
Scapaflow
Funny enough I did see Dave Mckinnon at Cappielow on Saturday but then again I have seen him there a few times this season. forever optimistic
Toby
I’d prefer to steer well clear of anyone who’s been in an executive position at Dundee in the last 20 years tbh.

I'm not too sure VT, I'm just surprised our board would entertain someone so assertive, and it could be just what we need at this difficult time. He was assertive in a more protective way (to his daughter and mine) than the likes of "sir" Walter Smith, who I think is overtly lauded by the Scottish media. Charles_Joe
I’m not sure what relevance being protective over someone’s daughter has to anything.
HamCam
What is the magnificence of being assertive? I know lots of incompetent but very assertive twats. After Hawke, I will be satisfied with basic competence and an understanding that fans are integral to the success of the club.

After Hawke, I will be satisfied with basic competence and an understanding that fans are integral to the success of the club. I know a lot will disagree but I think Hawke had some good ideas and said a lot but then either forgot or didn't have the skills to follow through on them. Someone a bit more stubborn and with more focus would be a change in approach. That said, it's easy to forget how much of a mess Gillian Donaldson left us in and at least Hawke left us with the Community Trust and Youth Academy (and a lovely set of turnstiles). Wee Dublin End
As opposed to people who are not protective over someone's daughter, they would not be decent people. Lost

Sorry HamCam, I've looked through my post again and don't see the word "magnificence" used or anything approaching it. I don't understand what's happening here with people going to such extremes and twisting the previous post to attempt to improve your arguments. Can you explain what makes you need to do this? vikingTON
I'm not too sure VT, I'm just surprised our board would entertain someone so assertive, and it could be just what we need at this difficult time. Call me picky but I reckon that proven expertise in corporate management and decision-making are far more important traits for the chief executive role than 'being assertive' or 'being a disciplinarian'. It's not as if they can order backroom staff to do twenty laps of the pitch for not responding to an email, that's simply not how modern management works at any organisation. DreamOakTree
I think he has those traits as well, as noted be an earlier poster. I've possibly been guilty of making the mistake of thinking you guys have grasped all the points in the entire thread before posting your response, meaning I don't need to repeat all the previous points as you will be able to recall them. Seems that I've overestimated your powers of recollection.
