An apology would be asking too much. The pricing of the dinner and it being black tie are two examples that come to mind. I’m sure there are more. It’s literally a trial, an opportunity to gauge effectiveness and gather feedback. We’re at a stage now where some people are so blinded by their intolerance of the GM, justified or not, that there’s an unhelpful attempt to create a hysterical reaction to every little thing the club does. Black tie dinners and cashless trials, for example, are complete non issues. Meanwhile, we’ve got a manager who’s visibly knackered, frustrated and, off the back of a terrible result, openly asking for help in the form of a resolution to the Andy Millen situation. We might not know the details of it but serious issues like this are where the GM should be feeling the pressure. Until I hear more I’m of the opinion that it’s gone on far too long and is now seriously affecting the teams performance. Figure out what’s happened and conclude the disciplinary process one way or another, hopefully with a reinstatement and a warning if required. Popular Post Cet Homme Charmant
Still can't believe the amount of ridiculous knicker-wetting about the cashless trial, did the clocks in Greenock go back 20 years in the weekend by any chance? Contactless payment has been in place in my local team for years, and guess what, old folk can use it just fine! Wow, amazing but true! And it cuts down the queues at half time as they don't have to go back and forward to the tills to give change. It's much faster and more efficient, and removes the possibility of petty pilfering (not saying this happens, just that the risk is there). Regarding the Supporter Liaison role... I agree that it's totally outrageous that a fiercely loyal fan like Toby who goes to all games home and away was not even given the very basic courtesy of a reply. That's extremely disappointing and unacceptable, plain and simple. Not sure what the actual benefit of this role is though, as the supporters are not one homogeneous group. We clearly have wide and varied opinions on just about everything, fuck sakes man, even extremely trivial stuff like cashless trials in the pie stall is hugely controversial for some! I've got no idea who got the gig, but good luck to him or her. It's a thankless task for sure as they'll never please everyone, especially the ones who just seem to like moaning for the sake of it. Popular Post Toby
9 hours ago, capitanus said: My 'indiscretions' on here aren't any worse than anything you've done yourself over the years, however I've never censured you, and who would I be to ban you anyway? Thats the big difference, your hardly likely to 'teach me a lesson' by banning me, are you? So whats the point? With regards to coming off the forum, it is something i've thought about for a long time and the next time you're speaking with Dean he will be able to verify it. That request still stands. It's no more 'going in a huff' than what several others have done before me - Davie McArthur, David Edwards, TonInDublin, Ghost and a few others - Simply saying i've had countless hours of fun and deciding to call it a day. With regards to the whole SLO thing, I agree with you 100% that you were treated very poorly there. The club should have got back to everyone who offered their time to the role, even if to say 'no thanks' or whatever, and it is a very poor show from them that they didn't even offer that small courtesy. I also think that you would be a natural for the role as you're at every game - home and away - and you know everyone from the club directors, the management, players etc. and the supporters from the pensioners right through to the younger guys in their teens - and you'd also be a good advocate for them too. Also, things like the Lesser Hampden Ticketing issues - i'd imagine if you had some kind of input it wouldn't have been such a shambles. Dare I say it, even the previous regime for all their faults managed such things a lot better fashion. With regards to the MCT and 'Fan Ownership' - seeing the way you've been treated here makes me kind of feel vindicated for not signing up to it. You're not any better off than myself for being a member despite you paying several hundred pounds into it by now. Whether or not you're 'liked' by any of the board members or the General Manager should be irrelevant as its as much your club as it is theirs. Finally, Your mate from Dundee United, I agree that the way he was treated was disgraceful. And it was resultant from an ongoing issue - the Female Head Steward - who has probably done similar that we've not heard about over the past few years. I'd imagine if you were SLO you'd be kept busy by her actions, and you'd be like a dug on mince with it. I’d typed out a big reply to this and deleted it, as there’s no need to air any dirty linen in public. I’ve already spoken to you about why you were suspended and let Dean know what you had to say, but needless to say, I can see a number of flaws in your argument. I’ll tell you them in private. Regarding the SLO- It’s not a big issue, which is why I’d never previously mentioned it on here. I asked the question as I suspected I wouldn’t be given the time of day, and got the (lack of an) answer I expected. Maybe it wasn’t anything personal, maybe it was. Lesser Hampden ticketing- if there was any SLO, that issue could have been handled much better. But instead, fans who weren’t that General Manager’s pals’ means of communication with the club were restricted to venting their fury on social media or emailing a General Manager who doesn’t reply to emails. A week later (and 10 weeks after applications closed) we were presented with three new SLOs. It’s almost as if blocking channels of communication at a time fans are going to be upset and ask difficult questions was deliberate. Is it too much to ask for someone in management to take accountability? MCT membership- no, you’re not vindicated. Joining MCT is about Morton, not about what’s in the interests of the individual. Yes, we all want to be treated equally, which isn’t an unreasonable request, but isn’t happening. There may not be a Morton anymore if it wasn’t for MCT, or they could be kicking about with Cowdenbeath and Gala Fairydean Rovers. The Raes had had enough and weren’t prepared to fund it. That the club have appointed (in my eyes) a dreadful GM doesn’t change that. I get that the continuation of Morton is perhaps more important to me than it is to you, but MCT were the only serious option. My Dundee United pal’s treatment was resolved to his satisfaction, though I thought things could have been done better. I was prepared to lay off about that after my pal wanted to let it go, but as the list grows, it’s something I continue to go back to. He received an email the morning after the AGM seeking to resolve that issue- lo and behold I received an email this morning along similar lines. Big Brother is reading the forum. Wonder if my pal who offered to sponsor a player received an email? One missing email is an accident, a second is poor, but three times is becoming a pattern. I may well volunteer to help in the future, but in the meantime, I got the chance to write a preview for the paper once a week since applying for the SLO role, which takes up a bit of my time and I’d like to think promotes Morton, and anything I can do has to be done on a matchday or remotely, so I’m probably of little use now anyway. 51 minutes ago, Chicken_Soup said: It’s literally a trial, an opportunity to gauge effectiveness and gather feedback. You might find them irrelevant, but the more of these that arise, the more his competence will be called into question. Not replying to an offer of sponsorship isn’t a non-issue in any industry, let alone at a cash-strapped provincial football club for which every penny is a prisoner. Of course, the effect of Millen’s suspension is the most pertinent issue around the club at the moment, and of course, he should be feeling the pressure around that. But after three weeks, and with a long list of other issues in the past, is it any surprise that questions are being asked? He had an extended honeymoon period when in the eyes of many, he could do little wrong. That’s over now, and the cracks are well and truly beginning to appear. That’s his issue to fix, and ours to highlight when we see something we don’t agree with. 18 minutes ago, Cet Homme Charmant said: Still can't believe the amount of ridiculous knicker-wetting about the cashless trial, did the clocks in Greenock go back 20 years in the weekend by any chance? There should probably be very little need for such a position at a club like Morton, given our ownership structure, but is a requirement for the club’s SFA licence. If communication channels between the fans and MCT/Morton are effective enough, MCT should have enough clout to iron out any issues. The last time I remember anyone asking MCT anything though, they were more interested in how cute the Arbroath mascots were than about us standing in the pissing rain for half an hour. I’ve got higher hopes with the standard of candidate for the MCT board elections though, all of whom I voted in favour of.

That’s his issue to fix, and ours to highlight when we see something we don’t agree with. I don’t sense that he is under serious pressure over the Millen situation though, certainly not as much as he should be. So why is that? We have a serious issue at the club being mishandled and it isn’t getting the attention it deserves. Maybe this is the culmination of a series of incidents, or maybe too much has been made of some other, trivial issues, that are serving only to dilute the criticism to this one, allowing the GM to bat this away along with the rest. To be clear, I didn’t use the lack of reply to an offer of sponsorship as an example of a non issue because I agree with you on that. And funnily enough, the incident you’re playing down, regarding your interest in the SLO role, is one I would be far more unhappy with if I were in your shoes. Maybe then I’d be less forgiving. Or maybe the only meaningful source of pressure comes from the manager and my opinion doesn’t matter anyway. But if he is reading, as you suggest: get the situation resolved and help the manager do his job!
Cet Homme Charmant
If the situation regarding Millen is impacting the team them it needs to be resolved immediately, one way or the other. How the fuck does it take this long to establish the facts and come to a decision? It's not as if they're being asked to work out the identity of Jack the Ripper. I was probably willing to give this guy the benefit of the doubt a lot longer than some, but I've belatedly come round to Toby's way of thinking. Given the complaint has come from Raith I am assuming the SPFL have been notified also & if so has Millen been charged by them? If not then surely Millen should either be given a warning about his future conduct or relieved of his duties. Given the Raith game was almost a month ago it has dragged on without any further information provided.

There isn't any 'dirty linen'. Nor is there any 'argument' at least not on my part, so christ only knows what your finding flaws with. I know why I was 'suspended' and accepted it. Now it is incumbent of you to accept my request and delete all my accounts and their associated posts. There is no 'huff' on my part either, and there is certainly no hard feelings towards Dean or yourself, or indeed towards any other member from the messageboard. I am quite comfortable with my decision, its you that seems to have a issue with it. Also, i've never once said I would 'boycott' your forum, so I dont know where you got that from. I wish the forum and everyone associated with it well, and I may even visit from time to time, however it's for Morton supporters and I've not been to a game for a few seasons now and i've got really nothing worthwhile to contribute here. So rather than piss anyone off and rather than get banned again, I'm deciding to move on of my own accord. Quote MCT membership- no, you’re not vindicated. I do feel vindicated in not choosing to join an organisation which has contempt for its fellow members, as you've just described. I was always confident that there would have been interested parties that came to the fore, however one of the stumbling blocks was the debts accrued by the Rae Family tenure. Indeed, that rich Laird character was hovering about the club for long enough looking for his opportunity, however thanks to the MCT scheme it now seems he has the green light to play the bigshot chairman whilst everyone else foots the bill.
