SassenachTon
No drama - but I'm just interested in the opinions of others, especially the very long-term supporters we have on here. It's probably because I'm an old fart and also a long-term supporter constantly harking back to the old days. I understand all of the whys and wherefores of the name change, and totally commend the club's celebration of its home town and its location. But it's never quite sat right with me. My team's always been Morton. That's all I've ever known them as, and have always called them. That's what our manager and players call us. That's all most of our opposition supporters on P&B ever call us. Edinburgh Heart of Midlothian? Coatbridge Albion Rovers? Kirkcaldy Raith Rovers? Methil East Fife etc. etc. etc ? Is it just me? Anyone else feel like this?
The Bewilderedbeast
I've always thought of the club as being Greenock Morton, I too am an old fart. Although, if asked who I support, I'll always reply Morton. Very very occasionally, I've heard people refer to us as Greenock.
Popular Post Toby
Before we go anywhere, can we all agree that that minging mob are “Partick”, not “Thistle”? All in agreement? Smashing, carry on.

TRVMP
I'd call them Morton in casual conversation but if people ask me who I support I say Greenock Morton. Not sure why.

Really gets on my nerves when people call us Greenock, especially when its people being paid on Sportsound for example. If I'm talking to someone who knows Scottish football I say Morton. If I am talking to someone not that interested in football, someone abroad or a young person who only knows Celtic/Rangers then I'll say Greenock Morton.
Greacen2000
Morton/Greenock Morton - both fine for me, but never just “Greenock”. The only people who ever call us “Greenock” are partick fans who are attempting some sort of pathetic retaliation at not being referred to as “thistle”, which amuses me greatly because we are Morton and they are partick Edited September 19 by Greacen2000
AyrshireTon
This is probably a minor gripe, but when the club changed our name officially to “Greenock Morton” in the mid 90s, our badge went from having Morton - Football - Club on the “ribbons”to Greenock - Morton - FC Ltd, and I’ve never liked it. The blue tartan kit had the former badge, but the red one, released a year later, had the latter. McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie. Waverley
I use both, depending on the circumstances. As an aside, just about every team in major league sports in North American uses a place name, e.g. Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, New England Patriots. capitanus
Morton. That's what the club was founded as, and should remain as Morton. Being honest, as an out-of-towner I'm not a fan of the 'Greenock Morton' name, however I can understand it may invoke a sense of civic pride from some people from down that way. I dont mind people using that. The one thing that gets on my tits is anyone referring to Morton as 'The Tunn' as in Tunnocks, rather than 'The 'Ton' as in Tawn. The worst culprit for this was Derek Johnstone on Football First from years ago. The other thing that annoyed me was that omnipresent big-eared twat Gherry from a couple of years back referring to 'The Wee Dublin End' as 'The Wee Dub'. That wasn't its proper name. 1 SACK THE BOARD!
