Davie McArthur
It's not bad, but nothing stands out like the opening track. Been listening to the new Richard Hawley album. A bit upbeat for him, but very well crafted songs beautifully delivered. Need to get that record. I love 'Lady's Bridge' so much. I'm listening to Grimes a lot just now. MARTY OUT!!!!! Cet Homme Charmant
The Choir Of Young Believers - Hollow Talk. This song is awesome, honestly. Literally just walked back in the door after seeing them live in Leuven...... absolutely brilliant!
centralTON
Need to get that record. I love 'Lady's Bridge' so much. I'm listening to Grimes a lot just now. I heard Genesis by Grimes a few weeks ago and thought it sounded a wee bit like the XX's, ironically Loraine heard it the same day and came home and was raving about it (she loves the XX's). Have also heard Oblivion, Vanessa, Heartbeat and Crystal Ball. Sort of thing I'd love on the first hearing. CHC, I'm sure The Choir Of Young Believers would be excellent live, Hollow Talk is easily the best of the tracks that I've heard, but I've only heard about 4 or 5. centralTON
Just listened to The Guillemots- Made Up Love Song No. 43 (Live), fantastic. We've see The Guillemots 3 or 4 times, and went to see Fyfe Dangerfield at Oran Mor. Seeing him as a solo artist was completely different to seeing him play with The Guilemots, tho' he did play Trains To Brazil and Billy Joels' She's Always A Woman To Me (which he seemed to be a bit embaressed about)
centralTON
Watching the video for Farewell To The Fairground by White Lies. It reminds me of being in Tallinn last February when it was -26. It is the coldest place we've ever been in, and it's unlikely we'll ever go back there.
Cet Homme Charmant
CHC, I'm sure The Choir Of Young Believers would be excellent live, Hollow Talk is easily the best of the tracks that I've heard, but I've only heard about 4 or 5. They are indeed, second best live gig I've been to this year after Bombay Bicycle Club. Only downside was it was in Leuven and the hall was only about a third full, and those who were there weren't very enthusiastic, so the atmosphere wasn't great. 'Hollow Talk' is indeed excellent, but my favourites at the minute are 'Sedated' and 'Things I Stole'. fFnjM7DdKws&ob=av2e nsUeKFL25vg Another Danish band well worth listening to if you haven't aleady is Efterklang.
