ccc
I don't think he did, i think others had it in for him for a while. We will see what happens in the long run. Hopefully his ban is lifted, or the proper person/people get a ban. Correct. Coincidentally, I think that it happened shortly after the Stars of '79 fiasco, funny that isn't it? Only the small matter of a deficit of £1,600 that everyone seems to be forgetting about. Has anyone found it lying about yet? Don't agree Sheeba IMO he did 1000% worse to a good few on here and got away with it, it was all close to the bone. Going to a lawyer just topped it. Stuff being a mod on this site, never mind worrying if lawyers are being brought into it. PS.. Lawyers...LOL If the moderators had moderated correctly, then there would not have been any need for lawyers. Seems to be the rules don't apply to certain people. It isn't what you know (in this case: the alleger knew nothing but still chose to fabricate it in a smear campaign) but who you know (in this case: the alleger happened to be good friends with the moderation team). I hope the mod team realise how damaging this is for their reputation of being fair and equal.
port-ton
To be fair, i have said worse things on here than MJ has said to people like puggs in his time here. The thing is everyone knows im joking when i say things, and only some people know that MJ is joking when he says things. If boozehound sued me me because i said his prawn carbonara didn't fill me up on here then really it's none of the mods business. No matter how ridiculous the claim is it's between two adults. In my opinion no one should be banned, but if anyone should it should be Midtons. I'm not saying he did anything wrong because he quite clearly didn't, but he was more in the wrong than MJ. If of course MJ has been banned because of things he's said earlier, then he should have been banned at that time. I realise the mods have been waiting for a while for a reason to ban MJ, but at least make it less transparant. There goes my chances of being promoted from Mini-Mod to full mod. Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!
Boozehound
Hmmmmm... Anywa,y I don't really give a shit about the individual case but I do think banning someone for what Mortonjag allegedly did is beyond ridiculous, particularly when I'm fairly certain that the man in Ban Boy's crosshairs really couldn't give a fuck. I'm in no way a fan of Mortonjag, it just annoys me that the guys who run a Morton board with core users probably totalling in the low hundreds decide that they're important enough to ban their users. Ban me next fuckers, I'll ruin ye. RUIN. Edit to add: Port Ton, my Prawn Carbonara is scrumptious - cast any doubts on it again and I'll send you a lawyers letter then ban you from my messageboard, using my cloak of self importance. An internet fud is still a fud.

TaunTon
There's probably been a few who have sailed close to the wind over the last few months and I can't say I'm thrilled about someone being banned. However painting MJ as some sort of martyr is a bit rich and I won't be losing any sleep over it. Nothing to prevent MJ setting up his own 'I hate Dougie Rae' board and inviting those who are now missing their overdose of the MJ and Newton borefest of inane tripe to sign up. midTONs
Jim, I don't for one minute believe that you were a direct cause of MJ getting banned. I rather think that MJ's decision to bring this situation to a head by calling in a lawyer possibly sealed his own fate. However, as I said earlier there has been from many sides a lot of childish and pathetic bitching, moaning, ganging up of quite a few people on here of late. And, again I stand by what I said that it all stems from the '79 night. In fact some may recall in the previously removed posts about that very night I did in actual fact ask for some level of calm throughout the forum as friendships (many of them long standing by all accounts) were starting to get frayed. Paul, like I said many times with regards to the 79 night I didn't want to discuss my opinions on it on an open forum, questions had to be asked about that night and some posters were more forthcoming than others but one or two decided instead of sticking to the facts they would us it to further their personal campaigns against certain organisations and people with no thought for anyone involved whatsoever. It has been suggested by one or two that a lot of back stabbing has went on with regards that night as well, I don't know the in and outs of that but what I do know is that I have had my opinion changed and all involved are fully aware of what I think. again I can only speak for myself here but with regards to friendships whether or not they have been short term or long term if they come to an end over this then I feel they were not worth much anyway and will not be missed, I have in my time on here over the years argued with folk for days and weeks at a time and and when we have met in person neither of us have brought it up, like many have said this IS NOT THE REAL WORLD and some folk need to get a grip, I fully expect a backlash on that from a selected few but you know what? Yes that's right. I couldn't give a monkeys.

TRVMP
Sorry Nacho, but that is a terrible attitude . How is it? As I've said, it's fine trying to change things from the inside, but people making this out to be a free speech issue are 100% welcome to form their own forum and run it their way. That is truly exercising free speech. It isn't what you know (in this case: the alleger knew nothing but still chose to fabricate it in a smear campaign) but who you know (in this case: the alleger happened to be good friends with the moderation team). Except that the 'alleger' has made it absolutely plain he never asked for a banning in the first place.

Yes that's right. I couldn't give a monkeys. So is this MJ you are referring to here? He criticised an organisation for running a night which SHOULD have made a clear profit. There is blatantly large problems with the trust if they are losing money during a night which should have contributed to the Trusts reputation, instead of leaving it in tatters. This then spurred you on to fabricating a story about MJ that you had been told by a "reliable source"....true? As you were not moderated correctly in your remarks (which contravened rules 3 and 4 of the forum) due to your cosy reltionship with the Mods, MJ pursued legal action....true? Now Tontastic has crapped his pants and banned MJ to try and cover up the fact that IF the mod team had acted appropriately against MidTons whenever he started posting fake libelous claims, the whole scenario would never of happened...true? Maybe if one of the Mods could confirm in what way MJ damaged the GM.org forum to the extent that he has been banned. Perhaps then they could explain why the crusade by MidTons was not deemed to have been damaging to the board and did not result in a ban.
