Cet Homme Charmant
A couple of colleagues are heading over for the Scotland game next weekend, and they asked for some bar recommendations in Glasgow. Not really my specialist subject any more, given that I've been away from dear old Scotia for over 20 years, so looking for some help. Basically looking for some decent bars to recommend to them, ideally authentic old-school type of boozers with a bit of character (if indeed such a thing still exists), with a decent beer selection, and where they're unlikely to be chibbed. Thanks in advance.

Cappiecat 1.2
Denholms near the Central fits your description. Great prices for city centre too.

Jinty McGinty's, pseudo Irish pub has multiple screens showing football. Can't say for sure though.

EanieMeany
If it's for before the Scotland game, then the likes of the Horseshoe, Iron Horse, Maltman and Toby Jug are probably the best shouts, all of which are very close to Central Station. If they're into whisky, the Pot Still has about 4,000,000 different types. For later on at night, it'd depend what kind of thing they're into but Bath Street would be a decent shout as it has a load of bars without getting into the madness of Sauchiehall Street. Denholms stopped having great prices in 2012 but you were probably too busy targeting your next victim to notice.

Aye, collection of wanker bouncers on the door too. Get a wee bit sick of the “No’ the night, mate†policy once you get past the age of 24. Get it to fuck. Alpen Lodge. Cappiecat 1.2
Denholms is on Hope St. Never had any issues with bouncers not letting me in and I'm quite a bit older than 24.

Another great pub en route to Hampden is Heraghty's in Pollokshaws Road, which is yards from Queens Park Station: https://www.heraghtysbar.com/ *insert signature here*

capitanus
T.O.G.A would have been a lively place yesterday evening I passed it on the way home and that whole area was closed off, with police vans everywhere but nobody else to be seen. Plenty of debris lying around the place. *insert signature here*
