Alex Williams Gone

I tempted to say 'YAY! Finally he's gone', which is typical of how i've come to view the Williams situation. He was just taking up space on the wage bill and I didn't feel like he could do a job for us on the park anymore. His scoring record of late is woeful and he often got himself into trouble with management too many time. McInally really didn't like his attitude off the park.

However, I'm very disappointed that a player who promised so much when he first joined us has ended his career with Morton in such a way. He scored 24 goals in his first 24 games for us and we hadn't seen a Striker like that in a 'Ton shirt in years, I had very high hopes for the guy's future career. I'm sure we all thought he'd be playing at a higher level by this point back then. But since then he has failed to produce the goods and has been more trouble than he's worth. I suppose he only has himself to blame, hes had plenty of chances.

I'd still like to wish him all the best, he's a talented footballer but right now a wasted talent. I hope he can screw the nut and go onto have a good long career in football (as long as he doesn't come back to haunt us  )

Good riddance Alex you f***ing waste of space.

You've ripped the pish out of this club and it's fans for long enough now and hopefully your departure will allow us to bring in one or two players with the ambition and desire to play for this club.

Mind yer arse..... <_>

What a shame that Alex's Morton career has ended this way. I have a small amount of sympathy for him, but I'm a Morton fan, not an Alex Williams fan: I'm mostly pleased that he's off the wage bill and we can all move forward from here.

I hope for the boy's sake he gets back into football somehow, but as for GMFC, we'll struggle on without him :D

My sentiments exactly. Although Alex did a number of silly things during his time with us, I still found him to be a likeable guy. Unfortunately for Alex, I don't think he'll come back to haunt us. What a waste. :(

Well, I for one am sorry that he has gone, I honestly thought that he would play a part in our drive for success this season.

I firmly believe that he will do a job for whichever team signs him, and good luck to him!!! Hopefully he can return to Cappielow in a few seasons with a bit of maturity behind him.

Once again - GOOD LUCK ALEX, THANK YOU!!!

He had a really poor spell with us, no-one's denying that but a lot of people on here are quick to forget how well he played for us at first.

Some of the above posts (Largston's especially) are a disgrace.

Why is mine a disgrace?

Williams has treated the fans who worshipped him (including me) with utter contempt. I forgave him after he missed the bus to Montrose, was caught in a casino 48 hrs before a crucial league game (where he was more than likely pished), refused to turn up when he was loaned to QOS and many more indiscretions he was rumoured to have committed.

Not to mention Douglas Rae paying off his gambling debts.

The list is endless yet some fans wish him all the best!?!

I know a few more things Alex has go up to - which i'm sure many others do - while employed by this club which i wouldn't post on a messageboard out of what little respect i have left for the guy.

The straw that broke the camel's back for me was when Muz posted that he hadn't bothered turning up for the pre-season tour etc.

Alex Williams has stuck two fingers up at Morton and our fans and anyone wishing him well needs their heads looked at IMO.

A sad, sad waste.

Did dougie seriously pay off his gambling depts?!?

Sad to see such a waste of talent but hopefully now we can afford another decent player or two, hopefully a left back!!

Yes.

John McCormack was quoted as saying this in a Herald interview.

Definitely the right move for everybody.

Alex DID start well with us, but has contributed absolutley nothing beyond thr first 5 or 6 months.

I had hoped that he might come good again, and that we could make use of his pace as an alternative to Templeman's style at times.

But in all honesty, he has been a passenger.

time to move on....

Note to self - be nice to the opposition.
