Beating cannon-fodder like Montrose 4-0 means absolutely nothing.

See thats where your wrong, if you believe that every team beneath us is cannon fodder then you are seriously mistaken...if Montrose are cannon fodder what where Annan? Champions league elect? get a grip.

A win against any team means EVERYTHING, and to call teams at this stage cannon fodder is belittling them and we dont have the right to belittle anyone after our start and niether should we regardless. If you think other wise, I would honestly suggest staying behind your keyboard, for the rest of time.

Absolute nonsense. It may mean nothing to you but I can guarantee it would mean a huge amount to the players on the park. Winning breeds confidence - the dressing room after a 4-0 victory against anyone will contain a far happier, more confident group than a dressing room full of players who just lost a cup tie to supposedly inferior opposition. That mood then carries over to the next game and can lead to the winning mentality that's been missing since the end of last season.

I would also be pretty confident that, unlike you, the vast majority of our fans would be delighted to see a convincing win against "cannon-fodder" after the start we've had to the season. This in turn eases the mood from the crowd which as we all know, can affect some players badly when it turns sour.

I await your negative reply that uses your wordly knowledge and vast intellect to put me in my place. Fud.

Last I checked Morton beat East Fife by a four goal margin, and followed it up with an easy win against Cowdenbeath within the last month. Care to remind me precisely how long that "winning mentality" lasted once they played against even remotely credible opposition?

There is absolutely no lasting benefit from winning routine cup ties until the glaring deficiencies in the first-team squad are fixed. The issue isn't confidence, the issue is quite clearly 'quality'.

Really? The "vast majority of fans" would be "delighted" by a 'convincing' win over, err, Montrose? More likely to be relieved, so if I were Moore I wouldn't await a Blue Peter badge for turning over a part-time side with a fraction of our budget at Cappielow. It's the bare minimum expected from any competent manager. That a certain bunch of knicker-wetters on here genuinely consider defeat in such a match exposes the piss-poor job he's made of the season so far, nothing else.

Well at least you know your role.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Jesus, you really are an absolute bellend. Have you ever played competitive team sports at any level? Cum on the biscuit doesn't count by the way.

Yes, confidence and the right mentality won't fully make up for what you perceive to be a huge lack of quality but I can assure you it goes a long way to closing the gap. If you think any level headed fan would leave the game after thumping Montrose 4-0 and not think it was a job well done and you also believe the players in the dressing room wouldn't take confidence from it then you are misguided. However, I think you know fine well they would and you're trolling as it seems to make you some sort of mini celeb on P&B. Keep it up over there and you might finally get your cherry popped you smarmy little ****wit. As for this board, you were found out years ago and no amount of smartarse answers is going to change that. Rat.

As for your "know your role" quip, feel free to say that to me at Cappielow and we can discuss it further. Plenty of people there will be able to point you in my direction.

You can 'assure' me: based on what exactly? I've provided very recent examples of this very side winning games comfortably, without making them perform any better the following week. Where's your counter-argument, rather than a straw man about whether I've played competitive sport or not?

Oi, Boozy, don't try jumping the queue. You can have a discussion with VT after he's explained to me face to face why he thinks I'm a moron. Mind you there's about another 1800 people ahead of me in the queue...

They're probably all there to tell you "face to face" that you're a moron tbh.

You need to wind it in sometimes mate, yer a decent guy but noising folk up aint the way to go. Surely as morton supporters we can have opinions without resorting to gash.

How can I provide a counter argument to what are hard facts? I can't and to be honest, I'm not even discussing that. I'm disagreeing with your opinion that somehow the fans won't be pleased with a 4-0 victory tonight because the opposition is deemed by you to be inferior. I'm also disagreeing with your assumption that because a relatively new squad has shown some weaknesses following an initial bright spell that it somehow means that if we beat Montrose convincingly, the players won't find anything in that to help boost their confidence and performances, simply because it didn't happen a few weeks ago. Having participated in team sports, even at the lowly level I did, I can assure you winning breeds confidence and confidence usually leads to more winning. Do you feel like answering my straw man now? I'd genuinely like to know your answer.

You're a troll of the highest order and it's a shame to see someone who could contribute a lot to the discussions on this board (well, those that don't involve sex as book learning doesn't really cut it - try Youporn) acting like an argumentative five year old just to try and score points from a bunch of people you don't know. You've been doing the same act for years now so I guess it's not likely to change anytime soon.

The offer of discussing my role still stands, so feel free to say hello. I'll look out for the plooky dip.

He would never do that Alibi....one strange small lad who will never approach anyone in public...why? he wont have his keyboard to hide behind, embarressment of an excuse for a person that he is.

Similar to the 'just because you shot Jessie James, doesnt make you Jessie James, For VT it's 'Just because you licked Einstiens backside doesnt make you a smart ass'
