******* What?!

Who cares what everyone else does? Too many footballers at that level (and others, I suppose) are just spoiled wee brats. If someone of Rooney's stature in the game can't score a goal without wanting to hurl obscenities down the camera, then it's his look-out. For the money he's raking in, a little humility and dignity wouldn't go amiss.

The songs being sang about the Munich air disaster is a problem for the clubs and the police, not Sky TV or the Premier League. Identify and ban those fans for life I say.

Unless its a seventeen stone sparrow with two arses ........ in which case flying might prove cumbersome - but I get the drift .....

I'm perfectly schizophrenic on this one.

On the one hand, as a player reportedly earning 200k a week, and clealry seen (rightly or wrongly) as a role model to young kids and others he should be able to control himself and be an ambassador for a club who have a great reputation for discipline.

On the other hand, if we're now going to ban for two games, every player who you hear swearing on TV, then there'll be no ****er left playing the game. There are countless examples of this - indeed last weekend I watched a player who was being booked walk away from the referee after being shown the yellow card clearly shouting "**** off, **** off" back at the ref. I also saw at least three players clearly swear into the camera having missed a chance - exact opposite of Rooney I know but where do you draw the line.

He should have been hit HARD in the pocket with the money going to a kids charity or such like.

if this ban is upheld it sets a dangerous precedent and every knobhead int he land will be reporting things to the FA for further review. And I would have said the exact same thing if it had been Lampard or Gerrard or whoever.

But there's a big difference between swearing "in the heat of battle" as it were during the game & running over to a live tv camera and shouting straight at it.

Rooney is a complete & utter clown who'll obviously never learn. he deserves everything he gets.

The future just ain't what it used to be

Rooney is paid to be a footballer, not an ambassador. I think if Man U wanted an ambassador they'd go for someone without the tons of baggage off the field that he does, don't you?

And again, how much someone is paid is absolutely irrelevant here.

I don't think this is fully true. His job first and foremost is to be a footballer but one of the reasons players get paid so much at that level is that they have to make sacrifices whether that be avoiding local nightclubs or in this case acting like a thug.

I don't see how that follows. As far as I'm concerned, players get paid that much because a combination of 'market value', player demands and agent input dictates it. Other than potential marketing income I don't see what image/attitude has to do with wages, or why one should be tempered by an excess of the other.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Would like to think that Rooney will now tell the FA he is no longer available for all future England matches. I also hope United report EVERY single incident of players who are seen swearing on camera - joke decision by a joke organisation. And I would say that whether it was Rooney, Gerrard or Terry.

Just watching the masters on Sky.

Mickelson very clearly says, Fukk, FUKK on camera , as his drive heads to the rough, no mention of that by the commentators, mwt will happen. It's sport, not fekkin' crochet.

There's a world of difference between a player swearing during the game that gets picked up by the camera & a player running directly towards the camera & swearing straight into it.

He knew exactly what he was doing... the guy's nothing but a ned thug who just happens to be good at football.

Rooney didn't run up to the camera though, quite the opposite actually. He ran over to his fans and the cameraman stuck the camera in his face.

I would agree, because they are all rather good, anything that makes England a poorer team is good in my eyes!

And then said "f'ing what?"

If that's exactly what happened (never saw it) then it sounds to me like he was addressing the cameraman, rather than the couch totties.

Yeah I would have said that aswell. If someone stuck a camera in your face in a moment like that, your reaction would have been smiliar.

Someone actually said there is a 30 second delay between what happens at the game, and what the camera picks up being broadcast. So the producer would have seen the incident and had 30 seconds to cut to another camera. If he did this, it wouldn't have been shown and there would have been no fuss, and no ban.
