I wasn't pointing the fingers at any of our.... ahem..... 'senior' contributors on here. :)

Older is the term.

You made a generalisation about people who are old. Ageism, plain and simple. It is a quite delicious irony that you can in this thread excoriate racism whilst spouting ageism.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences."

Watch it, Edwards and I will not be happy bunnies, your thoughtless ageism is most disturbing.

In fact, now I think of it, I was actually complimenting the older generation, of which you are not yet a part of, obviously.

They generally used these terms without malice, which is to their credit, it was during 'our' generation that their use became corrupted and tainted. Of course many older folk don't realise that and continue to use them, but in ignorance not malice.

My old mum God bless her used to go on about 'nipping down to the Pak1's for the messages' and she's not got a malicious bone in her body.

That's ageist. I'm off to the mods. Worse than Hitler.

I'm off to shoot online Arabs and Russians in Call of Duty 4.

Don't worry I'll only kill them in a virtual sense and will not use ethnic slurs.

15 kill streak yesterday. :bouncy:

I refer you to my post above which I hope clears your concerns on this particular point.

A good attempt to clear yourself of the charge, but no.

Racism is surely any generalisation about racial groups. It need not be malicious.

Ditto ageism.

Of course I refute completely any suggestions that any of my posts on this thread are ageist. I'm sorry you don't accept my explanation and in effect consider me to be a liar.

May as well make my comment on todays hot topic . The source of this story from the gaurdian of civil liberty News International , must have been a slow news day obviously no so called celeb was pictured with a mystery woman/man /animal .

Considering that the NOW is a vile waste of news print who regularly use this sort of reteoric in its pun induced headlines .

I am sure that in a military enviroment such terms are commonplace , when I worked in Engerland I was often refered to as Jock or Sweaty ( short for sweaty sock not because of any hygiene deficiencies ....Honest !)

The poor chicken or cow, your about to eat

I agree with what your saying, but in a PC world where this little chap see himself to be in, the word "*potential ethnic slur removed*" is not the best word he could have come out with.

Anyway, his Dad was running about on his maw for years, his maw played the public better than most and if she wisnae deed, his new Step Dad was a *potential ethnic slur removed*

How can anybody possibly offend a bit of meat?

Having served in the armed forces a good few years ago, just about everyone I knew in there had some form of nickname. Very few took offence. The mix of cultures and backgrounds was unavoidable and never a problem. Scots were often referred to as Jocks, the Welsh were Taffs .... etc etc

Even cross-forces nicknames were accepted - RAF = Crabs, Army = Pongos. We called the navy WAFUs - a term of endearment which actually means Worthless And Feckin Useless.

We had one guy in our barrack block who didnt like being referred to as Pak1, so someone came up with Stan - he loved it and was known as Stan from then on in.

Generally, it's the context which is the problem, as someone above has already pointed out. It never bothered me in the slightedt if someone called me Jock, but calling me a Jock bastrd was a different matter.

Post Falklands War, whilst serving down there, a directive was sent out by some PC @rsehole that we were not to refer to the islanders as Benny's any more. Again, most of the islanders didnt take offence to being called Benny's. We jokingly then referred to them as BUGs instead (Bloody UnGratefuls). So in effect, the PC halfwit actually caused a problem, cos they certainly didn't like being called Bugs.

Why cant we just call a spade a spade? ;) ..... but that's another serviceman's story.

As is their wont-a bloody scourge on decent society that self propagating and anonymous breed of creep. I bet they have 'issues', to use the in phrase, to the very last MAN!!!

At the end of the day it's a mountain out of a molehill, i can just imagine harry sittin in his palace when that news broke, playing his xbox or something... guy comes in and says harry, that video of you saying pak1 has just been on the news... harry doesn't even turn round, waves his hand in the air in a dissmissive manner and says "yeah, tell em i'm sorry or something" and carries on with his game and smokin a fag.

I bet he doesn't give a s*** !

strokin'?

I'm sorry I don't believe for a minute the lad didn't know he was known as that in the army. I wonder if the boy will now make a claim for damages? Tell Gibby he has never been referred to as Jock in the army and see if he believes you.

As for George Galloway's comments in his interview, he is a f***ing imbecile, so those who use the word P@ki do so because they hate them? But those who use the word Jock or Taffy don't?

So if I tell the missus I'm off to the P@ki's to buy the paper, I say this because I hate the person, even though I might spend 20 mins in the shop chatting to him? FFS people need to get off their high horse.

I salute your mastery of understatement Sir.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then they pretend to befriend you, then you win!

Take the t*** outside and shoot him.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

George has a right to his opinion and I have the right to call him a stupid t***. ^_^

The Royal Family are an insitution borne out of bigotry and ought to be removed Russian-style.

Jim, go into the shop and say "Alright pak1? News of the World and a pint of milk, please" and see how it goes.

Sorry, but anyone who think "Jock" and "Taff" are on a similar level to the nickname "Pak1" are......beyond hope.

You're not the first to make that observation. I find the gaming very therapeutic.

Excellent trousers btw.

I currently looking for charcoal coloured wool waistcoats, it's getting a tad chilly in school.

But the PC mob don't help by scrutinising each and every word that is said regardless of context.

Big Man, the video was obtained by the News Of The World and broken on Sky News, both part of Rupert Murdoch's News International organisation. I'd hardly say they were particularly 'PC', quite the opposite in fact!

Again, I think you're getting angry at the wrong people here, I really do.

Those who hijacked this thread about THEM liking saying the word pak1 this and n1gger that etc isn't the point.
