Cappielow In Book On Scottish Football Grounds

 It reminded me of the Frank Zappa quote about music journalism being written by the illiterate for those who can’t read.

You are up your own arse, arent you?

You and your middle-aged history teacher mates will never become the next Ultravox by shouting about Tatties and Damp Hooses over a porno music background, does that mean you should throw in the towel? No, because it is your chosen art form, and your means of expression, even although it will never be quantified in millions of 'units' either.

 I'm so far up my own arse I could clean the inside of my hat.

Love the bit about history teachers and wish it was true; only one of us is a teacher and she's an English teacher.

MARTY OUT!!!!!

  • 2 years later...

I found the latest book from this genre today which featured our 1-2 defeat by Dunfermline at Cappielow in February.

The front cover might be of more interest to some that aren't quite as youthful looking anymore than the book itself however....

Cover photograph is after we beat Dunfermline 2-0 in 1995.

Photo taken by Stuart Clarke from the Lake District. His take on the football grounds

book is one full of pictures "football in our time". well worth a look.

its no wonder that lad looks damp it really pissed down with rain at the final whistle that day

I happened across his shop "The Homes of Football" in Ambleside last year when I was down on holiday. Fantastic shop with some great photos - the one taken at the bus stop was on display with a price tag of ,wait for it............... £2500.......fookin hell. There was another, slightly larger, of an exit gate at Doncaster ( I think) which was going for £6000 !!!!

Aye aye! A long gone daft McInnes centre-parting quiff sported there, remember the game like it was yesterday though!

Savo and Ray Von for two.

Careful...I'll need to find that archive photo of you at the protest rally, now that is a cracker haha!

I had a bit more hair back then.

You're no joking there mate!

The book's good reading by the way, some nice wee tales in it and the Morton chapter sort of reminds you why we should always, regardless of current circumstances, be proud of our wee club and its rich history.

Been in the shop a few times over the years. First visit was in 2003 and was surprised that there were a few Morton pics around the place. Got talking to the boy behind the counter who informed me that "the boss" had a soft spot for Morton.

There's a launch night for that book in The Iron Horse pub in Glasgow on Thursday between 5.30 and 7.30.

According to the author pies, pints and midget gems on offer.
