It'll be interesting to see how they pick a jury for the trial.

This thread's as grim as the Jean Johansson one, and even more stupid.
There's no political points in the charges against him, and even if there was the crimes of an individual wouldn't register against the institutionalised evil perpetuated, tolerated and covered up by the establishment his opponents support.
get off youre soap box an lighten up bud

The absolute outrage regarding this when you compare the time Cameron shagged a pig head or whatever it was, or May skipping through the fields of corn, is minimal.
SAD.

It's not really though. There were no criminal charges brought against Cameron, unlike Salmond. At present he's an innocent man, and deserves to be treated as one unless he's convicted of any crimes.
If convicted, it'll be open season on Salmond, and quite rightly so. Until then, he's as entitled to a fair trial as anyone else.

Hard to imagine anyone racking up 14 charges is innocent, to be perfectly honest.

That's not how the law works though, as you well know.

It's also an active case and unless anybody fancies risking a charge themselves, there's little any outlet is allowed to say about it. Anybody that thinks Salmond will be treated lightly after this is wildly delusional and presumably hasn't read any newspapers over the last decade. He wasn't flavour of the month to start with.
