The Bewilderedbeast
http://boards.footymad.net/mboard/fmb.php?...&mid=2139446196 See the above for more info...............I said that this would happen all along, Mileson would either buy Carlisle or merge Grenta and Carlisle with the new club playing in the Scottish League set up. Anyone think different.

The Bewilderedbeast
Well if they were merged, what league would the team play in? 11629[/snapback] I think it could be an Airdrie scenario......with Carlisle buying out Gretna and taking their position in whatever league they happen to be playing in at the material time
TRVMP
It's not Brooks though, it's the Supporters Trust funded by Brooks. Remember he's given money to lots of supporters trusts (Berwick, Dundee United etc.)
Mayos Noun
I think they will merge, and therefore have at least 50 away supporters How many fans to carlisle usually have to away grounds, does anyone know? We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.
Ton_Cat
if the two where to merge would this not involve them starting in the 3rd division again. if it did it would be a major setback for them getting into the premier div a could be wrong just bounce if you hate the scum, just bounce if you hate the scum

If it was a merger then a new company would have to be formed. Therefore all that will happen is that Gretna are re-named Carlisle. Moved to Carlisle's ground and progress through the Scottish Leagues. Some sing of Celtic, Rangers And some of Motherwell Of Hibs and Partick Thistle And other teams as well But of all the famous football teams There’s one that they’ve forgotten With a Ra Ra Ra and a Cha Cha Cha IT’S THE FAMOUS GREENOCK MORTON
AyrshireTon
Well I for one ain't gonna faint in amazement at this news. AT McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie. carlito
Carlisle have got a cracking stadium. I spit in the face of people who don't want to be cool!
BubbaTON
They shouldn't be allowed in the Scottish league.
DongaTon
.....neither should Gretna have been but we allowed that. We don't have a leg to stand on, Berwick are in it so Carlisle could enter too. It's just exact same as Airdrie buying Clydebank. Will simply take the place in the league, if Mileson wants to do that and owns both. Writing about music is like dancing about architecture - Laurie Anderson Yer Dong Allan Moore, yer wife's a very nice woman, we're gonna win the league for sure. Lochwinnoch Saint
Carlisle were alway's going to join forces with Gretna which is no bad thing because it will help to bring money into the Scottish game through gates. Carlisle fans will tag along. Gretna will win league two , with any luck you will get second place and back into the first division however their will be no St Mirren as we will win the first division this season Anyway good luck boys ! Rhubarb Mess
Was always inevitable, but could set a precedent for the OF to move the other way. Also would result in a challenge to the big two, Carlisle have a sizeable potential support. We are a MEAN diddy team!!! Guest Robert the Bruce
Nothing new in this story its been talked about for quite some time now. It looks like his plan and good luck to him hes put his money where his mouth is, it would be good for Scottish football after all Carlyle is part of Scotland stole. beermonkey
Was always inevitable, but could set a precedent for the OF to move the other way. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- if thats the case then i'm all for it, i'll take a 'carlisle for the old firm swap' anyday, the sooner the better. maybe the OF could merge & start in the english 3rd (or 2nd, or whatever its caled these days !???) The future just ain't what it used to be
ayrstorm
Was always inevitable, but could set a precedent for the OF to move the other way they are so broke they could only buy a smaller conference side - and after this weeks debacle, how many seasons would it then take to battle up the leagues
edd
yeah, rangers and celtic are hoping to be invited to join the english premiership, they're not looking to buy a small english side and take their place in whatever league they're in. can clubs merge during the season or does it have to be done after the season's finished? and what about the carlisle players? where will they go?
