In the same way as I did when I left the hymn book on the pew at the last funeral I went to.

Probably just as well as I'm sure the relatives had suffered enough already.

I'd love to have you both for dinner

Everyone carry on nothing to see here it was a reference from the Daily Mail.

Unless Bradley Wiggins has gotten his priorities right think I'd be more chuffed getting a message from Johnny Marr than the Queen. Lets face it everything you get a letter there she is whats the big deal.

In other olympic news did anyone see Boris on the zip wire is there nothing this guy won't do to get into the news !! Where are those olympic archers when you need them.

She was vilified by the Unionist press all because she wouldn't conform to the british establishment.

She doesn't believe GStQ to be her national anthem because she is a Scot. She stood up for what she believed in.

Then the logical thing to do would have been to decline the invitation to play.

Deary me, that's absolute nonsense, even for you.

Participation in the Olympics should never be reserved only for patriots and nationalists.

Loving the poor attempt at condecension Rentier but in this case I fear your may be wrong, I would agree if you're in a solo event like 100m sprint, discus etc but she's playing for a National Team

Which part of national team is causing difficulty?

And that's nonsense even from you, it works if you're in a solo event like 100m sprint, discus etc but she's playing for a National Team

Which part of national team is causing difficulty?

That's complete bollox, and you know it.

Are you seriously saying that an athlete who does not believe in the concept of nationhood or national patriotism cannot compete in a team sport in the Olympics?

An athlete in a team sport in the Olympics can perfectly reasonably feel that they're competing for their team and not for their country.

If you really believe that pish you're spouting then I worry about you.

Scotland's a nation. GB as constituted in Team GB isn't - at best, if you add NI to the mix you have a multinational state with a province added.

"Any nation given the opportunity to regain its national sovereignty and which then rejects it is so far beneath contempt that it is hard to put words to it."

Always good to start with an unproven and unprovable assertion.

No, I'm suggesting that it takes a peculiar type of hypocrisy to play for a National team but not sing the national anthem.

The team which represents the country.

Again with condescension.

You were better at trolling in the past.

Scotland's a nation.

Funny, I had a wee look at the UN website and couldn't see it listed.

GB as constituted in Team GB isn't - at best, if you add NI to the mix you have a multinational state with a province added.

I have a sneaking feeling that GB is a contraction of "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

So you are denying that Scotland is a nation? Why do we have a national football team then? Better get on to the SFA and tell them to resign from FIFA.

I repeat, the UK, or GB if you want to contract it, is a multinational state, not a nation. Unless you believe Scotland isn't a nation.

What about Muslims and atheists are they not allowed to compete then ? Anyway in a democratic society shouldn't anyone have the right to choose their display of whatever jingoistic imperialism you wish ?

People would rightly criticise the artificial displays of national pride forced on the populous by many regimes.

The idea of national pride to some flag get a life respect should be earned not as a given, singing about some invisible entity that doesn't exist to save one other person, how does that signify nationhood.

Should the Catalonian players have declined to play for Spain when they won the World and European Cups?

Seen a couple of them grab the Catalonian flag when they won rather than wave a Spanish flag.

Just another small gesture to make a bigger statement of Nationhood

Don't blame me I voted Yes!!!! - We tried to tell you !!!!!

lol, we got a football team so we are a nation, what about an airport ? should that qualify as identification of a nation. What about a flag, does that dictate if you are a nation ?

Well, there is a clue in the phrase "NATIONAL football team". We're not a nation as a result of having a football team; we have a national football team because we are a nation.

Airports? Jeezo, what's that got to do with anything?
