Difficult to call today tbh.

France should beat England but you never know with that mob and they've made it clear that they'll be sitting back and trying to nick it on the counter, but will be content with a draw.

Prediction: 1 goal win for France but no bet on this one. Small bet on Benzema AGS.

Sweden should have a straightforward victory with Ukraine largely reliant on an over-the-hill Shevchenko, but it's tough to predict given Ukraine's home advantage and the backing they'll have. They may spring a surprise.

Prediction: 1 goal win for Sweden but again not willing to bet on that.

Too many questions many of which make little sense. I didn't ask for lots of questions after my initial posting but I tried my best to answer nonetheless. Win some lose some as long as it trajectory is upward. I need around 8 wins for 1 loss to profit and so far I managing that.

The debt I have is substantially less now than it was before I resumed gambling. I dont gamble often.

I don't really have any close friends, havent had since I was a teenager, I dont have people I can call and say ''hey do you want to go for a beer'' or to go on holiday with. I'm a quiet unassuming person who keeps himself to himself. I have family but aint seen anyone including my mother for months; I have a wife; your right she doestn know the full amounts, she thought I'd 800 on sharapova, so your right there, I didnt want to worry her too much. Hope that answers as many of the questions you have asked as I can.

If Sharapova lost I'd have coped, have lost bigger amounts in the past and lived to tell the tale.

You have a serious and dangerous problem mate!

Yes, I am really betting all that cash, why would I le ??? it's not often I bet more than 2K on a single line, only when I feel sure; have had some bad losses recently, for example I'd £800 on Real Madrid v Bayern Munich a few weeks ago and lost, and the day Cappello got sacked and Redknapp cleared off Tax evasion I stuck a monkey on Redknapp being next England manager.............

Indeed, I'm not one who spends his time in the bookies betting on the horses/dugs or whatever; or indeed, I'd never play the puggies or go to the casino; I've tried those things, can't win. I gamble to win.

and I'd gamble on those things because ? Maybe lay them , not back them.

Perhaps, its a lot of stress yes, but, since I strated betting again I'm up every month except one and up substantially this year; I can show my accounts, to you all all, why quit ? I bet big when I expect to win; I listened to Martina Navratalova yesterday when she said Maria sharapova would win easily, and I'd only £800 on it 10 minutes before the start of the match; just hap that feeling she'd win and I lumped on when I was as sure as I could be just before the first serve.

Missed quoting someone about saying I must be back in a dark place. Sure, yourright, Life aint great again, who's is ? Life is okay. I was away doing another munro today and didnt gamble, I'm no addict; I still have debt and cant afford to lose. Puntin £10 on a horse doesnt give me a fix; I need to bet big. GP asked me to fill out a questionnaire form about depression, I didnt hand it in, I dont want to go back to anti-depressants, I'll deal with this via exercise, even when ''happy'' I may still have a punt

I can show you my Wm Hill account showing 24 wins from 26, the stats dont lie. I cant show you my bet365 account as I'm barred from there

Yes, I've learned from the past and spent a while in Gamblers anonymous, and may do so again, maybe rock bottom is yet to come, but, slowly but surely the trend is upwards and I've the accounts to prove it. Thanks for the concern. It's a dangerous game; he who dares wins.

Sure sounds like it.

Please talk to someone about this. You obviously want to, otherwise you wouldn't have posted originally.

I actually get where WDE is coming from. I have long since given up standing in a bookies, betting on everything from Cartoon's to Rapido's. Horse's to Dogs. Football to GAA. I now do something similar on a much smaller scale. Picking and choosing my bets. Like WDE I run at a profit pretty much every month.

The problem with the scale WDE is doing it on, is that the loss could seriously impact his life. However, until WDE is in a position to accept he has a problem. No ammount of shock/horror from strangers on an internet messageboard will help him give up gambling.

Obviously, in the end, the Bookies always win. I'm surprised people don't bet more on say tennis than the horses. It's only a 'two horse' race if you will.

Frankie Dettori was recently on 'The One Show' the day before the Derby I think. He was asked if he thought any horse would beat the favourite, Camelot, and he said no.

Sure enough it won, but it came from a long way back to win in the end, and was near the back of the field most of the race. If I had £2.5K on that I would have been bricking it.

If you had bet £2,500 on that, at 8/13, it would have given a profit of £1,538.

On your first point. Not True; bookmakers will profit from the vast majority of punters; between 1 and 2% of gamblers make long term profits.

How do you know how many people bet on the tennis ? I think you would be surprised. Bookmakers have a profit margin on every market in every sporting event they offer. It's just like the butcher won't sell you a half pound of mince for £1.50 if he only bought it himself for £1:50.

In a game of tennis, 2 evenly balanced players will be offered at not 1/1 and 1/1 but 5/6 and 5/6 meaning if the bookie takes same money for both players the bookie will profit.

By your reckoning instead of saying tennis you could just say football because thats a two horse race too is it not; only difference being there can be no draw outcome in a game of tennis.

I don't just bet on what you refer to as two horse races. I'd a substantial wager on Sweden winning the Eurovision song contest which contained several horses - and grannies

Whilst I've stated I don't place wagers habitually on horses there are occasions where I consider value to be had and had a small bet on Camelot that day; you clearly know nothing about horse-racing, being near the back of the field most of race means hee-haw (hee-haw see what I done there). How much did you put on Camelot after listening to Frankie Dettori ? If you are going to take advice from jocky's you'll be doomed before long; better asking the horse.

Personally, I've not placed a wager since the weekend, I only bet when I notice value and on a wide variety of subjects, I've over 50 accounts with bookmakers and betting exchanges to ensure the best price be had; a bit like buying your baked beans in Tesco, corned beef in Asda and spuds in Morrison.

Enjoyed this:

 :P ;)

Look at her riding pillions on Davy’s sea-bike, carrying an apoplectic macaw in a silver hoop. Oh, Morton, let’s go there this winter!  Or learning the Japanese chinchona from that Kobe group, in a dress that looks like a blowtorch rising from one knee, and which should sell big in Texas. Morton, is that real fire? Happy, happy little girl!

Got greece & russia to win today 12/1.

I couldn't pick a winner in the Russia game so took Greece to beat the Czechs and there to be at least 3 goals in the Poland match. Around 7/1 with a tenner on it.

With respect Flyerton. Camelot was the biggest certainty of the year. The only thing that would have beat that horse would have been if it broke its leg. Some horses are hold up horses and rely on raw pace late on to win races. The great Baracuda being a fine example. I put a good wee sum on Camelot that day, and at no staqe in that race was I in any doubt I had backed a winner. Also, I think there were only 8 horses ran the derby this year? Either way, it was not a massive field to be at the back of.

2-0 Czech Republic within the first 5 minutes.

Glad I took Greece/Russia as singles rather than the double!

Or perhaps not. My first non-profitable day.

Still, another goal for my 125/1 top scorer punt - Dzagoev!
