  1. Past hour
  2. Thanks Cappiecat, wondered what had happened to 12ftladder
  3. That article also mentions outside interest being shown in Cameron Blues as well. With the demise of 12ftladder, I've found a new tool to get past paywalls; smry.ai
  4. Today
  5. Best wishes to both of them. Power I'm sure could do a job a division or two down, and I hope French can somehow recover his potential.
  6. https://www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/24303853.robbie-muirhead-livingston-linked-morton-top-scorer/ Bit at the bottom here about French and Power having moved on, not that either were expected to stay anyway. Power ended up being quite important for us but ultimately just doesn't have the legs for another year at this level of football. Goes with best wishes.
  7. Jimmy Gourlay acting as his agent, i believe.
  8. Muirhead linked with a move to livingston
  9. Imrie and Morton have revived the fortunes of a number of players who had hit a bit of a dip in their careers - Muirhead, Crawford, Oakley, Gillespie, Quitongo, Wilson and even Strapp (to an extent) fall into that bracket. I'm fully confident Dougie can continue to do that, particularly with a slightly bigger budget behind him. The likes of Muirhead, Oakley and Crawford moving on after a couple of years good service is always going to be the norm for us. Chucking big wages and multi-year deals at mid-table level players in in their late 20s in order to keep them is far riskier than trying to look for replacements who sit comfortably within our budget. I'd argue that Arbroath fell foul of this exact issue in the last 18 months - their premium part time squad ended up with too many miles on the clock.
  10. Likely. Doesn't really have a bearing on the club making their announcement with a list of released and those offered a deal.
  11. I don't think it's a surprise that players like Crawford, Oakley, and Muirhead are being linked with other clubs from the point of view that we know that Dougie would want to keep them and none of them signed extensions to their contracts at any point. We've shown in the last year or two that we're happy to get players signed on for the following season. Looks like we could have big turnover for next season. I don't think that's particularly great news. There can be disagreement over how valuable each of those players are, but we know that none of them are awful.

  13. Would have thought some players are waiting to see how the playoffs, etc go before committing to anything too.
  14. Absolutely no good luck to him, after turning down a contract with The Famous to chase more money in the seaside leagues with Queen of the South and their delusional promotion 'warchest'. Which has worked out splendidly for all involved. That's the point where his career as a credible full-time professional footballer actually ended.
  15. Cool your jets. Literally only 1 club has released such an update so far. But aye, shouldn't be too long if the conversations were taking place from yesterday.
  16. Gavin Reilly leaving QoS to and is joining Arbroath. He is apparently starting an apprenticeship outside of football and wants to play part time. Good luck to him
  17. I think someone mentioned that the players were being told yesterday where they stand going into summer, so I'd imagine we'll be hearing some news over the next few days.
  18. I thought from what had been said recently that we would have had by now the list of players being released and those with whom contract discussions are underway. Is that imminent?
  19. The bit in bold. The club are missing a trick by not getting that Fat Matt character to shout at people from a passing motor.
  20. Yesterday
  21. End of the day players come players go Morton will always be here.
  22. All fair enough. I spoke to him about it at the AGM and it was addressed the following day, and my pal’s happy, so fair enough, benefit of the doubt and all that. I do like a moan, but Warren Hawke or Dave MacKinnon he ain’t.
  23. Credit to the Tele for keeping on-message and naming them correctly
  24. I’ve no doubt the incidents you mention could’ve been handled differently, but in a similar situation I was left more impressed. I imagine I was one of many who contacted the club after the Partick game to raise concerns. I was happy with the swift and honest response I received, and the manner in which the improvements were implemented. There’s a lot about the club which seems to be moving in the right direction, but I won’t pretend to know enough about the inner workings to know who to credit. He has a big job now to support the manager with what looks like a significant squad rebuild so hopefully he’s up to the task.
  25. In the sense that I don’t see much by way of short term gain, other than some merchandising spin offs if kids want new strips etc. The season ticket for that age group is free anyway and is included in this package. Loss leader’s maybe not the correct terminology, but I expect the club plan for the benefits of this project to be more long term than immediate.
  26. I'm not sure how it could prove to be an actual loss-leader but the marketing is definitely crucial. We could be offering the best deal in the world - and this is a very good deal - but unless the club also aggressively market it then it's not going to deliver much. The club website and the Tele aren't enough - we should be finding ways to get this information (quite possibly actual, physical fliers) to every school class in the area. By the school holidays begin there should be an annoying wean in every household, guilt-tripping their parents into buying a season ticket and assorted tat, with the events to follow of course.
  27. Ah well, good player who gave his all for us but not irreplaceable. The club should not be offering deals outwith its means and unfortunately that leaves us with a risk of other clubs poaching our players. Partick’s day will come. Be a shame if both he and Oakley are starting for them next season but I’m confident Imrie will find suitable alternatives.
