Goal of the Season - Brophy vs. St. Johnstone

	Best Signing - Kris Moore

	Worst Signing - Sonny Hart

Best Game - 3-0 Win vs Ross County. They were terrible but it looked at the time like Imrie was turning things around, only for him to leave after the next game...

Worst Game - 4-0 Loss vs Stenny. No explanation needed.

Keep/release for 2026/27 season

https://themortonforum.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/44645-keeprelease-for-202627-season/&do=findComment&comment=1187625

If you watch the video of the 2-2 draw at home to plucky wee Partick, he could have done better with both goals (maybe I'm being a bit harsh on the 1st one as the defence in front of him was certainly far more at fault than he was). In mitigation, the pitch was frozen solid and it was like playing on concrete. As a side note, this game was shown nationwide in the UK on ITV's Big Match as well as Scotsport, as this game and Leicester City's were the only two that survived the big freeze that weekend.

Like I said, he was a decent shot stopper (IIRC he saved a penalty at Pittodrie), but in other aspects of the game he was weak, IMO. But he was for sure entertaining and he certainly brought a bit of good ol' American razzmatazz.

25/26- End of Season Awards

https://themortonforum.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/44650-2526-end-of-season-awards/&do=findComment&comment=1187624

PotY - Storer by a long way IMO. Wilson is the only other one even worth mentioning in this category

	Goal - O’Halloran

	Best signing - Kris Moore

	worst signing - Sonny Hart

Best game - 2-0 win over Dunfermline. 5 would have flattered them never mind 2, and at the time it felt like we were on the cusp of putting together some decent form (only for us to go on and lose 4 on the bounce)

Worst game - 3-2 defeat to Partick. Not our worst performance of the season by any stretch but the sheer kick in the balls factor after being 2-0 up at half time was hard to take. Arbroath away with the crazy winds is a contender too in terms of it barely meeting the minimum requirement to even be described as a game of actual football. Obviously stenny was our worst result of the season but at the time I wasn’t as pissed off about it as I was about losing to Partick.

25/26- End of Season Awards

https://themortonforum.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/44650-2526-end-of-season-awards/&do=findComment&comment=1187623

Best goal.

Best player: probably Storer; not without fault but mainly good in a team lacking quality and consistency.

Best goal: if not the last minute overhead kick against Queens Park, I'll give a nod to the equaliser away to Arbroath in that stormy Friday night game; an excellent goal given the circumstances.

Best signing: not technically a signing, but the departure of Laird and Davies were significant and positive 'transfers'

Worst signing: Billy Davies of course

25/26- End of Season Awards

https://themortonforum.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/44650-2526-end-of-season-awards/&do=findComment&comment=1187609

The answer to this has to be Sonny Hart, no matter how you look at it.

Best XI of current & ex players (still playing)

https://themortonforum.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/44651-best-xi-of-current-ex-players-still-playing/&do=findComment&comment=1187608

No Nicky Cadden?

Best XI of current & ex players (still playing)

https://themortonforum.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/44651-best-xi-of-current-ex-players-still-playing/&do=findComment&comment=1187607

There are a decent amount of former ton players currently playing at a higher level and doing well so I thought I would try to come up with the strongest XI we could have at our disposal if we had been able to hold onto all our best players over the years.

The only limitation I’ve put on this is that they just still be playing (or at least be of an age where they still could play if they don’t currently have a club), so it’s ok to include loans. In some cases I’ve picked players based on how they performed while with us (Muirhead, Grimshaw) and in others it’s based on the career the have had since leaving(Shankland, Findlay, Mcpake)

	a few honourable mentions -

Kiltie & Cadden were both excellent for us but on current form I had to begrudgingly pick Miller

I really wanted to get Jamie Brandon in there but with me lining up 4-4-2 and already having Mcentee & Grimshaw in the team it just wasn’t possible

Welsh & Baird both deserve a shout at CB and even as I type this I’m wondering if I should have picked one of them ahead of Iredale. I could maybe have moved Iredale to LB and fitted one of them in but I really wish we had kept a hold of Strapp so I wanted him in there.

Oksanen didn’t make a big impression while here, but he has gone on to get a big move to a club that regularly play in the UCL as well as becoming a Finnish international so he deserves a mention too. I don’t really follow Finnish or Kazakhstan football so haven’t seen enough to earn him a spot in the team

Arguably Maciver & Oakley are better shouts than Muirhead but he was one of my favourite ton players in recent years and I love having a maverick type in the team so he gets the nod to partner Shankland up front

in goal it’s very hard to pick between Schwake, Hamilton, Mullen & Storer in terms of how they played during their time with us - they were all excellent. Hamilton & Mullen don’t get much game time these days so I’ve ruled them out that basis. Arguably Schwake should be in there ahead of Storer by virtue of the level he is playing at (lining up against the likes of Messi as well as appearing in the concacaf champions league), but I’ve went for Storer just because of just how good he has been for us this season.

Bold statement and totally moot point coming up, but I would say this XI would comfortably hold their own in the premiership and have a good chance of competing for top 6. I know that realistically we could never have kept this group of players to make it possible - it’s just a bit of fun thinking about “what if?”.

25/26- End of Season Awards

https://themortonforum.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/44650-2526-end-of-season-awards/&do=findComment&comment=1187606

Still a couple of games left (Hopefully only 2, otherwise i will delete this topic from the face of the earth) However, would imagine everyone has an idea of their awards for the season. (Having typed this i am now realising i am not sure i do)

Player of the Year- Considered Wilson for a moment, however got to be Storer for me. He has won us a lot more points than lost this season and has been very consistent and above in the games he has played. Missed him massively during the period he was injured, Highlighted by Johnsons goals conceded per game ratio.

Goal of the season- Actually a good variety of options for this one. I will go with O'Halloran last minute overhead kick against QP. A crucial win and a goal worthy of winning any match. Honourable mentions to Brophy v St J and Kris Moore v Arbroath.

Best Signing- Christ. Should really go with Storer for this one since has been my POTY, However i will go with Kris Moore. A really strong first season in Men's football, especially his first 6 months or so. Really glad he has signed up for next season and will be good to see how he kicks on. Owens looks like a good piece of business too, hopefully can tie him down.

Worst Signing- Tricky one this, is it a player who has just been useless or because we have barely seen them. Zak Mckay, Kian Taylor come to mind but feels incredibly harsh given it to them when barely kicked a ball. Lyall has been a shell of himself last season too. Going to stick with one of the players we have barely seen though and go with Taylor, Not that he did anything wrong, he has just been very injury prone and Murray clearly does not rate him either. An excellent idea to sign an already injury prone player, a fine edition to Minerals FC.

Most Significant Goal- I actually don't know. Hopefully it will be this saturday up in Dingwall. Longridge winner v Airdire felt huge at the time to get our first win of the season, 3 months into the campaign. Comrie winner down at Ayr last month could prove to be vital too.

Best Game- Dunfermline home. 2-0 win. Extremely slim pickings, however we were sensational for 60 odd minutes that night. Nobody could have argued if we won 6-0. Beating Ayr in their own backyard is always very pleasant too.

Worst Game- Holy fuck, where do we start here. The clear answer is Stenny away, but jeezo we have had some pish games this season. Honourable mentions to Ayr away when we lost because our left back just blatantly picked the ball up in his own box. St J at home being 4-0 down after about 25 minutes. Actually I had forgot about Stirling. Stirling fucking Albion, that could be the one. A week later conceded 5 to St J too.

A very bleak season. Get this over with.

Morton Club Together Updates

https://themortonforum.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/43796-morton-club-together-updates/&do=findComment&comment=1187605

New home and away shirts have space for 4 sponsors each that along with shirt sponsor and stadium sponsorship should bring in revenue to the club. Sat 18th April 2026.

https://themortonforum.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/44649-ton-v-qp-sat-18th-april-2026/&do=findComment&comment=1187604

I disagree with this, because the interim period didn't deliver notably more (or less) 'rotten results' than the regimes either side of it. Getting shoed at Saint Johnstone is completely irrelevant.

Now we should have beaten Airdrie at home under the interim team, but didn't - but we also should have beaten Queens' Park at home, but didn't, on Saturday. And it wasn't under the interim management that we contrived to lose 3-0 at Airdrie or at QP, while we did in fact beat QP at Cappielow when required under interim management back in December. Once you account for the strength of opposition, their records are effectively the same.

On a wider point, the 'big chances missed' mantra strikes me as a seriously dubious factoid, given how hopelessly subjective a term that is. The sniff test of this campaign, in my view at least, really does not support a swashbuckling Morton team that has created stacks of chances but somehow failed to put them away.

But even if you do buy that category, I suspect that the number of 'big chances conceded' would also be rather large too, certainly since Imrie left. As a defensive unit from front to back, this team can't keep weans out of a close and our frankly rancid away form under Murray is an outcome of this.
