Ferguson: the new godfather of English Football?

Duncan Ferguson takes charge of his beloved Everton FC for the first time today. A fine servant of the club, and arguably the best Scottish player of his generation who was badly let down by the football authorities in his home country at a tender young age.

English Football is now ready for a new hard-as-nails Scotsman to boss it from head-to-toe once again, and they don't come any harder than him. This is the guy who will be able to get the best out of underperforming expensive players and know who needs the arm-around-the-shoulder approach and who will need the kick-in-the-balls approach; a natural progression from the likes of Jim McLean and Walter Smith. Everton had a few Carlos-kick-a-balls and a Dutch Cap as manager since Sir David Moyes moved on to Man United, and the heart has been somewhat displaced from them since then, but Dunc is the guy to restore the heart and soul of the club and guide the club back to the top where they rightfully belong.

Give it a couple of weeks, and things will be rightfully restored.

How many years are Leeds out of the Premier League now, then?

That doesn't take away from the fact that Everton are a shit club.

You address me by my proper title, you little bollocks!

They've got a Catholic Church in one corner of their ground. I thought that would have been your kinda thing, Bishop.

Leeds have won the title more recently than Everton, in fairness.

But that was a fantastic result today for them.

That was a blip in all fairness. Blackburn have won the title even more recently than the Leeds. That goes for nothing too.

The church at the corner of the Gwladys and the main stand is St. Luke's, but it's an Anglican church, not Catholic, have been going to Goodison since the early 80's.

I stand corrected. Still, the Anglicans are good Christian sorts.
