The klown from Kirkcaldy boasted that he had abolished boom and bust FFS.

The quiet chortling came from the grave of the sage of Kirkcaldy................

Aye right McB, sage of Kirkcaldy my arse. He was all for boom and bust right enough, boom for the bosses and bust for the workers. And so it goes on, nothing much changes.

You really should read the man Mr E

On the subject of Rentiers

As soon as the land of any country has all become private property, the landlords, like all other men, love to reap where they never sowed, and demand a rent even for its natural produce.
On that of the prosperity of the people and social justice

No society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which the far greater part of the members are poor and miserable.

On the tendency of capitalism to monopolies

People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices
and again

To widen the market and to narrow the competition, is always the interest of the dealers…The proposal of any new law or regulation of commerce which comes from this order, ought always to be listened to with great precaution, and ought never to be adopted till after having been long and carefully examined, not only with the most scrupulous, but with the most suspicious attention. It comes from an order of men, whose interest is never exactly the same with that of the public, who have generally an interest to deceive and even oppress the public, and who accordingly have, upon many occasions, both deceived and oppressed it.

Nonsense. The trams will likely not be finished and their funding was only saved by SNP scrappage by Labour votes (IIRC in the last Parliament, if not, the council). The SNP were against Edinburgh trams and still are.

What a right good Labour pet project that has turned out to be, almost a hare-brained as GARL in the west.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

 Really? Who's money's funding the Forth bridge then? It's called 'public', and I think the SNP are in favour of that too.

Apples and oranges. The Forth Road Bridge is public infrastructure and whether you agree with the scheme or not, I think we all agree that those projects should be paid by the public purse and not for private profiteering.

There is no reason why Inverclyde could not be regenerated by the wider economy, we live here, we know the potential and the problems, so do businessmen. The best way to turn things round is to control our own fate and our own incentives, in an independent Scotland and not waiting for the hand-outs of our own money by Whitehall.

The future of the Edinburgh Trams project came under threat in 2007 when the Scottish National Party (SNP) published in its manifesto for the Scottish Parliamentary election its intention to cancel the scheme, along with the Edinburgh Airport Rail Link, in order to save a total of £1.1bn.

In the debate on the Government's Transport program various opposition politicians made statements defending the Edinburgh Trams project. In particular, Labour MSP Wendy Alexander said "The Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change claimed that the costs were out of control, but they are not."[16]Following a vote which it lost in the Scottish Parliament, the SNP-led minority Scottish Government agreed to continue with the line from the Airport to Leith on condition that no more public money would be supplied if the project overran. A report by Audit Scotland, commissioned by the Scottish Government, confirmed that the cost projections were sound.[17][18]

Initial costs for the scheme were £498 million, with £375 million funding from the Scottish Government and £45 million by Edinburgh council.

So, Flyerton, can we have an apology and withdrawal of the shameful Labour 'East Coast bias!' lies that have muddied the waters of this thread?

Perhaps the Labour campaign slogan should be 'We'll pay for every project, just never, ever ask how'.

The block grant also consists of English, Welsh and Northern Irish taxpayers money to be fair.

It's also English/Welsh/NI taxpayers money to be fair.

Erm no it's not as there's little evidence that Scotland is operating a fiscal deficit to the rest of the UK.

And you're not trying to be fair at all, so ditch the cloak of neutral aribiter, thanks.

Well today I had another wee chap at the door from Labour he asked who i was voting for " blooming cheek" so I gave him my election leaflet.

Did the same to the co ordinator on the street, devoid of humour she refused to accept it as it was her choice>

I asked what choice I have recieving their propaganda through my door and if they are not accepting my crap then I ain't accepting theirs. OK I have to keep it along with all the other crap as part of my research.

So having had a bit of light hearted banter from the SNP women you are faced with the solemn faced young new labourites (won't say socialists as that died with John Smith)

Less about apples and oranges, more about priorities, something that's needed and something that's not. Of course the best way to take things forward is completely under our own steam, no argument there. In the meantime however, the Scottish government is still responsible for the distribution of the Barnett funds and as I say, regeneration should be a priority, particularly in Inverclyde. No hand-outs required, just investment in our future to repair the social fabric. One bridge over the Forth will do for just now.

I think the electorate have to get smarter and organise, don't vote as individuals vote as a block this would put more pressure on MP's to get things done.

Make the constituency a marginal for whoever , this will at least mean come near elections you might get some things done. Being a safe Labour seat has done the area little good with some absolute nuggets voted in, Dixon Mabon anyone.

No, I don't think he had anything sorted, nothing of any importance at least. At best he's a discredited high priest of a discredited economic system. At worst, he's a god to the misguided.

I don't actually understand what you're doing at the election Chris. Are you standing at the election? Or are you an agitator chucking brick bats in from the sides? I know you said you were involved with Pig Society? What exactly is it you are up to? Just to add, I don't live in Inverclyde so I can't vote for you but if I could, I would!!

I find the success of The Best Party in Iceland really inspiring. I love the ridiculous nature of it all and no matter how ridiculous they get they are almost always usurped by the 'real' politicians. I love that their '10 point programme' has 13 points and that they call for 'clearer transparency'. I think there is a real demand for 'anti-politics' in this country and I would like to work with like minded people. I'm sure there are millions of us out there. Lions led by donkeys.

Mark Steel said in his excellent book about The French Revolution that during an election campaign you could line up a load of people and ask them who should rule us. Some would say Labour, some would say Tories, some would say The Royal Family, some would say the army but not one of them would say 'why can't we do it?'

More on the Icelandic Best Party....

MARTY OUT!!!!!
