According to the Greater Manchester Police they will arrest anyone in the stadium who shouts racist or sectarian abuse (apparently the Russians are a bit racist and Rangers are a bit sectarian). Be interesting to see how many are left in the stadium come full time.

Has anybody read the quote from Advocaat about his signing policy. Something along the lines of he won't sign a black player because the fans wouldn't accept him.

Difficult to fathom which is the greater of two evils. Racism or pandering to it?

Another question - Do Rangers have any songs without sectarian content?

6:30am this morning Scotland's Shame were giving it 'Billy Boys' full pelt, live from Albert Square in Manchester.

I don't think I'll be watching it tonight. I can think of better things to do on a Wednesday evening than watching a turgid 0-0 draw played out in front of 50,000 hate filled racists and bigots.

I suppose they have one or two, like 'Bluebells are Blue' and 'Follow Follow' (although the version played over the tannoy at Ibrox has a flute band backing).

Apparently bears defecate in sylvan surroundings and the Pope has some inclination towards Roman Catholicisim.

Does "Follow Follow" not have a whistled accompaniment?

Though the whistling does sound strangely like a flute band.

Funny that. <_>

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences."

I didn't quite believe that could be true, but apparently it is....

Manager Dick Advocaat has even admitted that the fans' attitude has affected his transfer policy.

"The problem is our fans," he says. "I would be happy to sign anyone but the fans don't like black players.

"I don't understand how they could pay so much attention to skin colour. For me, there's no difference between white, black or red.

"But the fans are the most important thing Zenit have. That's why, in future, I have to ask them outright how they'll react if we sign a dark-skinned player.

"If the fans don't agree with me, I won't do it. I won't buy a player who won't be accepted by the fans."

Truly shocking for a man of his experience to come out with something like that. It's like something you'd expect to read from the 1970's.

Yet another reason for giving this game a body swerve methinks. It would be like watching a boxing match between Ian Paisley and Nick Griffin, I wouldn't know who to support.

Just a thought, I wonder given LeyTONs stance on morals if he will watch this game tonight and if so who will get his support, racism or sectarianism.

Exactly. They feel compelled to add a wee bit to everything.

You don't trust me? Shame. ;) That's the bit I had read this morning. Pretty poor stuff.

In other news, Scotch eggs contain eggs.

The point of the thread was to ask the question will the Manchester police do what they say and arrest those singing sectarian or racist songs?

Unless every policeman in Manchester has his very own Russian translator how will they know if the Zenit fans are singing racist songs or not?

And of course there's a grey area in defining what is and what isn't sectarian. Some would argue that The Sash for example isn't sectarian because it doesn't contain any overtly anti-Catholic lyrics. It's as hollow an excuse as the one Celtic fans use for defending the singing of pro-IRA songs by saying they're not sectarian but political.

There's little doubt in my mind that both The Sash and pro-IRA songs are sung with sectarian intent behind them.

And the OF hate each other. And hate the likes of you and me maybe. All this hatred- man, it's bad vibes - bad karma.
