axeman
I always thought Brcic was a great keeper too..... until I saw him at the begining of the year on 'The Big Match Revisited' in the 2-2 draw with Thistle in February 1979 and he was, frankly, woeful. That day the pitch was rock solid, the game probably shouldn't, and today wouldn't, have been on, Added to that Brcic whacked his head on the ground making a save, so I think he could have been forgiven for not being at his best that day. One game I remember in particular that he was outstanding was the 1-0 win against Celtic, when Big Andy scored a late penalty against Roy Baines. Added to that was the fact that he won the Premier League player of the month for December 1978 showed that he was quite a bit better than woeful. seen him play one of his first games for the ton at the old fir park motherwell. lost two goals from two simple crossed balls in the box from a guy who had played for the well for years called joe wark. we won 3-2 but bricic was rubbish the whole game. i think the fact that he was american that fans thought he was such a good keeper when really he was not. & he was the first american to play at cappielow. or was he?? Sorry that's just rubbish. His first game was a 1-1 draw against Motherwell at Fir Park & he was only beaten by a late goal from another ex-Ton player Willie Pettigrew, a point blank strike from the 6 yard line , I'd love to have you both for dinner
TAFKAC
In my lifetime of watching: Baines, McDermott and Wylie. "I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it." George Bernard Shaw

HamCam
I thought Dave Brcic was an excellent keeper. The American who never lived up to expectations was Ron the flying winger who was not that good at flying - he did fall over a lot though. Baines or Sorensen for me. Cet Homme Charmant
I think your memory is being very kind to him Dave, he only played a handful of games (6 or so) and as far as I can remember he only saved one penalty in that time, though I could be wrong there. The other American who came at the same time was Ron Atanasio and as far as I remember he never got a game in the first team. I remember seeing him a couple of times in the reserves and he was mince. I was right, Dave Brcic played a grand total of 6 games for us. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Brcic My word Ron Atanasio even has his own entry in Wikipedia. Surprisingly there's no mention of his two appearances for Morton Reserves. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Atanasio
