AyrshireTon
Didn't he get injured in 86/87 whilst filling in for Wylie ? I don't remember him after thatat Cappielow. Yes. It was in a midweek game against Kilmarnock at Scapa. He injured himself whilst conceding a late penalty (we were 2-0 up) and then got up and saved the spot-kick. Didn't play again as far as I can recall. With Wylie injured, we then went through a month of useless barstewards on loan taking a shot in goal for us. McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie. DongaTon
Funny you should mention him. I have a programme somewhere where his pen pic described him as having the toughest job in football - being number two goalie behind Wylie. I remember him in end of season encounters and in particular at Annfield where Morton lost 4-2 Poor Paul Graham! I think I mind him being in goal at Firhill in a meaningless end of season match once. TrumpingTon
i'm tempted to say finbar flood or even moro mani (remember him?) just because of their bonkers names, but of course it has to be the majestic man in black
Guest Eric M.
Dave Brcic played 6 games including wins against Celtic and Aberdeen.

I agree that Sorenson was by far the best keeper I have ever seen play for Morton. Not just a good shot stopper, although he was, but total command of the box, great at crosses, penalty saver extraordinaire and great reader of the game. I thought Baines was a great keeper but Sorenson was different class.

Exiled Scot
i was joking about ff and mm I know you were, anyone who saw them would not expect you not to be. When reading this thread Finbar Flood came to mind but I’d forgot about Manni
Tonsilitis
Sorensen was a great keeper but he was also one of those keepers who would save penalties, make unbelieveable stops and then let one trundle through his legs! I never saw Jimmy Cowan but I would guess he is the greatest Morton keeper. Of those I saw, Roy Baines was my favorite.

Heard he used to struggle at times with shots from distance, especially with the floodlights on. Apart from that excellent keeper as was Lief Neilsen from the same era. My dad told me about Jimmy Cowan & his fantastic ability. I mean how many keepers had a game named after them ? I'd love to have you both for dinner

RSC
During my young years Eric Sorensen was the best 'keeper in Scotland by a country mile. I've yet to see anyone as entertaining (flash), in all black and with such a gob.
