Tom_McB
On Radio 4 this am there was a small feature to the effect that this sort of crap is happening in England too. Pressure on the police from politicians North and South of the border to reduce the number of people in Jail. Build more prisons. "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences."The goal of Socialism is Communism- Lenin Je ne suis pas Marxiste : K Marx
vikingTON
You really are a f***ing clown. I'm still waiting for an answer. Spades? Hammers? TVs? A line has to be drawn somewhere or justice will be an ass I tell you. The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. Tell you what ya wee tadger. I'll whack you over your heid with a spade first, drop a tv on your ugly coupon second then scud you over the temple with a hammer last. Good old fashioned assault or attempted murder? Stop being argumentative for the sake of it. Out of curiosity - have you ever been the victim of a serious assault, or indeed been maimed by a blade yourself? While we're at it, why don't we just shoot everyone for every single crime committed. Zero chance of re-offending, minimal costy to the taxpayer and it'll keep everyone safe and happy in their beds at night. If you can't work out that a line has to be drawn between assault and attempted murder and at least contribute something worthwhile, then that's your problem not mine. It was a fantastic response, wasn't it? Of course there has to be a line drawn between attempted murder and assault but I think someone throwing a 28 inch Alba TV at another being compared to a young boy getting stabbed in the chest is a bit of a poor comparison. And in pretty bas taste considering the boy's allegedly in intensive care. Your point about shooting everyone is as relevant as using a tv as a weapon, as you well know. So, are you speaking from experience or not? I think I know the answer. "CORNBEEF IS A BELLEND"

Yes, but I've already stated that said incident is (and will be prosecuted as) attempted murder. To extend, however, that description to any assault involving a knife is misguided IMO. You could feasibly murder someone with virtually any kind of implement, or through own means, but it doesn't render all violence attempted murder, if you see the aim of my point. Now I don't see why I'd need to have experience to hold such an opinion or for it to be relevant - or does LargsTON propose a set of training knife crime schools before people are allowed to hold opinions on Internet forums? I can see where you're coming from, but IMO and a lot of folks, if you carry a knife and use it you should be done for attempted murder. Pierce a main artery and you're dead within minutes. The chances of that happening if hit by TV are minimal compared to a knife. Of course a knife is a far more lethal weapon, but for attempted murder is it not the state of mind and decision that is needed rather than actual harm? I'm going to use another of my ridiculously extreme examples, but if a wife chopped her husbands baws off for infidelity (which has been reported on more than a couple of occasions )with a knife, then she is clearly guilty of some form of serious assault charge, but attempted murder? Taking it literally, did she attempt to murder him, or was she instead looking to cause 'significant' pain to say the least? When it comes to a broader incident like the one reported, then that is certainly attempted murder, but I don't think we should have a uniform charge for each and every knife crime. That's a dangerous attitude to have and a distorted way to look at it. The laws just now are unclear, lenient and open to abuse from defence lawyers which is why there's currently such an outcry. Until we have laws that will try ANY knife crime as attempted murder then knife crime will continue to be a growing concern in this country as your ideology would leave potential offenders too much leeway to abuse the system. It has to be made clear to the general public that ANY assault with a knife will be met with the harshest penalties, only then will we see a marked improvement and a change in attitude to carrying blades.
