Greacen2000
Greenock Juniors are cheaper to watch than Morton, that's as good as your example about the Jimmy. I don't think the unemployed should get reduced entry to Cappielow- Who next? Single parents? They could argue they've got as much claim. No it isn't as good an example, because unlike football clubs, you do not have a lifelong allegiance to a pub because you love it. You go out to socialise and have a drink, and some places are cheaper than others. It isn't the same thing at all. so would you like to see mortons home gate drop by several hundred each week and the people go to watch the juniors instead??? There comes a point that you have to draw the line, and after children, pensioners and the disabled, that in my opinion is where that line should be drawn. your argument about being on the dole while you were galavanting round the world also holds little credence. You had no interest going to Cappielow in that time, so making the sacrafice of not going until you get into employment is a small one to make. i wasnt "on the dole while galavanting round the world ", i was on the dole for a short time after returning. FYI I did not have "no interest in going to Cappielow" while i was off travelling, in fact i missed it a lot, and as such was desperate to get to a game as soon as i could upon my return. are you suggesting that if i had really been interested in attending matches I should have stayed at home? The fact of the matter is that for hundreds of people in Greenock, getting a concessionary rate at Cappielow is the difference between coming and not coming. Therefore if you take away the concession, less people attend matches and the club makes less money. Do you think this would be a good thing? puggsy_ton
I see nothing wrong with it. Technically I have to say that as I have been on the buroo and used my card to get in so I would be quite hypocritical. Clubs are supposed to integrate in the local area and get as many people behind them as possible. Not everyone can afford the stupid prices there are these days (back in the 70s/80s a trip to the football took up a much smaller % of the dole money than it does now) and even now I think I'll be picking my games wisely. As has been said, most dole-living scum wouldn't ever go to the football. It's the honest folk who are on hard times - this current recession being the prime example - that this sort of thing is aimed for. Small question, some people have said they are fine with disabled people getting in as a concession, but what if they work in full time employment? Shouldn't they have to pay up then as everyone else would?

But why not? I'm not having a go but if they are earning the same as others then surely they can contribute the same. The facilities for everyone else aren't exactly tip top. As for one in most grounds the view is pish, and in most grounds your exposed to the elements and you can't chose where to sit. if you want ft workers to pay the same well Equal Facilties = Equal pay "Boy, I got vision, and the rest of the world wears bifocals." Wee Dublin End
I used to enjoy watching Morton everwhere; at the moment only the occasional home game is within my budget. Morton just like other businesses in this depression are adopting the policy of ''we're not making enough money, lets hike the prices up''. It's all very well for Dougie Rae et all who doesn't need to worry about where money for food for his weans next feed is coming from, or even for the SFL to say these prices are justified but for the average Joe on the street it's unrealistic and impossible. Personally I'm working 75+ hours per week. After the mortgage, council tax and utility bills are paid theres little left for food, let alone luxuries such as watching very average professional footballers. The standard of the morton team and Scottish football in general is a lot lower than 20 or even 10 years ago when Joe Bloggs had more disposable income but now we need to come up with loads more dough to watch what is usually non entertaining drivvel. Sorry. it's just not financially possible or realistic to expect us to spend our leisure/time and money this way. I've no doubt Douglas Rae has pumped his cash from his business into Morton, great, but has he ever worried over how his wife and children get their next feed ? ; I think not. So Mr Rae, don't give us this bring a friend p*sh anymore; and you're Celtic fans are the best in scotland sh1te did hit a raw nerve, Yes it did. F you. scotia morton
Thought I would add to this with what Morton FC told me when I asked about concessions! I had to give up working to care for my other half as she is crippled with MS. My personal income when I worked was around £1100 a month. I now get £232 a month carers allowance and a miserable £34 a week income support. Anyway I thought the fact that I no longer worked (Then again as a carer I almost work 24hrs a day sometimes) and was on a very low income that at least I would get in to Cappielow at a reduced rate! I phoned cappielow to ask and got some asshole who said "you aint trying to find work, so you dont count" After this I emailed the club and eventually got nice polite mail stating TOUGH! Not a student or jobseeker so I do not qualify for reduced entry! I still go to the home games, but my away days are just about out of the question! I fully agree with you, but I think some people are going for double standards. Students, Unemployed, OAPs and disabled (I've technically been 3 of these...if you count being in a full leg cast and on crutches for the Peterhead game where the steward let me in free!) should get a discounted rate imo

MrsTON
Is a pint cheaper in the Jimmy Watt if you have a buroo card ? I believe that pints are cheaper in the Jimmy. Believe it or not, but not every guy feels the need to get pissed before going to watch a Ton game. That's just my opinion.
