I've also looked at a few defunct ones. No idea if this information is freely available anyway, but hey ho. 1. Which club have we faced most times across all competitions (and have beaten us more times than any other outwith the old Firm)? 2. We have the "upper hand" (beaten them more times than they have beaten us) over only 3 of the other 9 clubs in next season's first division - which ones? 3. Which club have we defeated more times than any other? 4. Who are the only two clubs to never have inflicted defeat on us (easy one this)? 5. Our records against these former clubs - Airdrieonians, Port Glasgow Athletic and Third Lanark - are very close. Which one did we have the better of in the end? McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. We have the "upper hand" (beaten them more times than they have beaten us) over only 3 of the other 9 clubs in next season's first division - which ones? Ayr, Queens and Falkirk 3. Which club have we defeated more times than any other? I want this to be someone big-ish so going to plump for Aberdeen 4. Who are the only two clubs to never have inflicted defeat on us (easy one this)? Elgin and Annan 5. Our records against these former clubs - Airdrieonians, Port Glasgow Athletic and Third Lanark - are very close. Which one did we have the better of in the end? As a club, our record against most other clubs was just fine until reconstruction in the mid 70s (the creation of the Premier League and the move to meeting 4 times a season or 3 in the lower leagues). Since then teams such as Falkirk, Dunfermline and Ayr United have over taken us in the head-to-head stakes. We have the better of no-one in the current SPL and the better of only 3 clubs in the current 1st (but the better of the whole of the present 2nd and 3rd divisions). The most interesting thing is our record against St. Mirren. We had the better of them by some distance until the mid 70s. Benny Rooney and Allan McGraw have appalling records in the derby (Rooney W4 D5 L14, McGraw W4 D4 L15) and the increase in the number of meetings has definitely swung things their way. There are of course, other factors, such as the decent side St. Mirren had when Rooney was at Morton and the whippings we got when HS was running us down. Most wins by us over other clubs - 71 - Dumbarton 65 - Partick Thistle 61 - Hamilton 58 - St. Mirren 51 - Clyde Most defeats - 105 - Rangers 102 - Celtic 76 - Partick Thistle 75 - Kilmarnock 72 - Dundee, Dunfermline & St. Mirren Oh - the highest number of meetings we have had in a single season with another club is 8. Which club? Is that Kilmarnock, around 80/81. Living in Bourtreehill, I remember going to see us at Rugby PArk a few times. You can't believe it cos it's actually not true - after re-checking I appear to have pasted the St. Mirren totals in the Dunfermline sheet and not actually added up the Pars results. I was always a bit iffy about that one and was probably fighting sleep when doing it. It's actually - 25 won, 38 drawn and 44 lost. Oops! Revised defeat table (with Dunfermline nowhere near it now) - 105 - Rangers 102 - Celtic 76 - Partick Thistle 75 - Kilmarnock 72 - Dundee & St. Mirren 70 - Hearts & Falkirk McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
