That wasn't entirely his fault, he was a young centre back shifted out there and he had to learn quickly. I thought his attitude and application were excellent in that first season at left back, and it also developed his distribution for when he was moved into the centre.

I don't doubt that, it was clearly a Duffy decision but doesn't take away from the fact that overall he was really poor there, even if he applied himself correctly etc. We would all burst a gut if we pulled on the jersey, but would still be brutal.

Delighted he proved his worth a CB but amazed people have considered him as our best left back in ten years!

Surprised Lamie has a few votes, he was terrible at left back for us.

Gaston produced some unearthly saves at times. The close rage one in THAT Ayr game at 0-1 and the one at Palmerston being standouts.

Also made some ridiculous saves against Dunfermline up there if memory serves me right.

Gaston hands down for me.

Muirhead is out of contract at the end of the season. For his own good, presumably he's looking for an exit, because he's tumbling down the full-time pecking order (MK Dons to Dunfermline to Morton to... oblivion) and needs first-team football if he's going to prove himself again. For whatever reason Hopkin has signed him but doesn't fancy him, least of all in his preferred position up front, so he really needs to get going if he's not going to play.

It's not too late for him, and a certain other Scotland youth international with a decent reputation hit rock bottom at Morton before reinventing himself at Little Ayr. Stranger things have happened...

I think he could be decent through the middle with Nesbitt and Cadden out wide suppling crosses and/or playing off him.

McHugh does an OK job there but I'm amazed Hopkin hasn't played him up top after talking him up something awful
when he signed, especially when the goals dried up.

Doubt we will see it right enough, Hopkin seems to have made his mind up already. Maybe he is too old and experienced for this young, inexperienced squad he is creating...
